If you could pick JP CTR-02 or KAC SR15

Struck another worship nerve, I see šŸ¤£

To calm your nerves some, Iā€™ll reiterate that Iā€™m a KAC fan (own one and have owned several). Iā€™m currently waiting on an overpriced (but hopefully reasonable) deal on another upper.

I hope that helps your feelers šŸ™‚

Your use of the word ā€œonlyā€ here suggests youā€™re trying way to hard to pick a fight. Why?
Adding the word ā€œonlyā€ also makes it a red herring giving you what you need to launch your argument.

These paragraphs are also the red herring FYI. Nobody claimed this wasnā€™t true, you twisted what @DeathBeforeDismount saud which was completely true as a generalization like he meant a it. You can trust your life to Glocks and LMTs and H&Ks and Hiluxs... we all know there are lemons. You just had to twist it to be all technical about it to pick a fight. You not get any lately or were you not breast fed enough as a child or maybe you were adopted so youā€™re just angry at life?

Haha. Youā€™re trolling right? Seems your style. Maybe this whole thing is a troll? @the monk and @DeathBeforeDismount have said it above, JPs run super well. Super accurate. No one argues that. But they also are primarily shot in more controlled nvironments, get cleaned more often use better ammo or custom loads and are tuned to be reliable with specific parameters. They usually wonā€™t run with steel, Hornsby Match, 55 to 77 grain etc without a tweak. Maybe you donā€™t hear issues with JP because people expect to tweak them which means they expect issues.

I also havenā€™t heard of a single overseas use or mil contract or LE agency who issued them. Iā€™m sure you know of one so before you technically disagree with me, I acknowledge there probably is one. Thereā€™s probably a reason for them not being issues/used in a widespread manner where lives are on the line.

Like trying to get a handgun to run with a comp reliably, no one bitches they have to change recoil springs or only shoot +P ammo to get it to consistently run right? But itā€™s super reliable .... within what it is tweaked to do, it is. But KAC was designed to operate on a wider spectrum of elements from ammo types to temperature ranges to environmental (sand dust etc) and has proprietary parts like the bolt which by definition makes it more durable/have more longevity.
Nope, my post was not meant as a troll. Here is my KAC just to show I do in fact own one. If some asks anything about a Knights are they automatically assumed to be stirring the pot/trolling?

When you can't refute the facts you make emotional based insults.

At least you are consistent.
Beat me to it. Emotionally based insults for sure... but weā€™re the ones with an ā€œemotion based religion?ā€ šŸ¤£ Maybe heā€™s replying to the mirror?

Wasnā€™t replying to you, brother. Did I mess up and tag you? šŸ˜¬

AS much as I love my KAC guns, the Super Duty Rifles at half the cost are REALLY good guns. If I was buying today that is where I would be looking. (I may even sell a SR15 and buy 2 SD's)

The SDs got a good rep. Never shot one though. Iā€™m looking at adding another SOLGW and maybe a Hodge if I can ever find one to see if itā€™s worth the juice.

They have a well tuned gas system and will run just about everything. Top notch rail, G trigger, good Bolt carrier and barrels are very accurate for a CL CHF. Head to head I would still take a SR15 but for value, they are really hard to beat, especically if you qualify for the military pricing that brings them down to about $15-1600. Factory pistols with braces available as well.

The Hodge barrels are worth the juice if you are looking for the niche they fill which is a lightweight, chrome lined, extremely long barrel life, sub MOA barrel that is properly gassed. If you dont check all those boxes it's a lot of money for a cool name.

One is a game/toy and one is a hard use gun you can trust your life to.

Decide which is more important to you.
Fuck. Here we go...You've put rigorous use through both? And like every single other AR on the planet, if you keep them wet, they both run like tops. The difference being, I've got the LMOS and AGB on the JP's, but the KAC's cannot be as finely tuned.

This is one of the most ignorant fucking things I have read on here in a while.

How many carbine classes have you been through? Have you ever done institutional testing?

Every AR is the same just like Every car is the same, Every scope is the same, every watch is the same, ect ect ect.

One is proven beyond reproach and one is an untested game gun that under PERFECT conditions, you must keep clean.

Like the other idiot in this thread, you need to read more and post less.

LOL! I don't know if you can rinse the sand out this time.

JP is "untested" now, huh? Interesting perspective, new guy.

To answer your questions, I have taken courses and I continue to instruct them as well. In my experience, AR's fail the most when they dry up. I haven't cleaned either of my JP's, "extra special," I just douche them with the lube-a-lot and go back to "playing games" with my "untested" rifles.

Now, would you please post the institutional testing you have done on your KAC(s) and JP(s).

Deathbeforedismount,

Since you asked,

Having taken, and taught, countless carbine courses, and served as an AR armorer for multiple departments, and SWAT, and SWAT sniper, and used ARs against real adversariesā€¦

Thereā€™s nothing magical about Knightā€™s guns, or combat for that matter.

Combat doesnā€™t happen in some magical dimension that automatically makes the conditions worse for the gun than a competition.

If the weather is bad, the gun ā€œknowsā€ the weather is bad. If the conditions are dusty, the gun ā€œknowsā€ itā€™s dusty.

It DOESNā€™T know if itā€™s in Kansas or Koreaā€¦ itā€™s just to dumb for that. Iā€™ve put my guns through far worse conditions in training and comps than in combatā€¦ far worse.

Get over the worship. Knights makes great guns. They arenā€™t magic. They are the result of design compromises like every other gun.

For some peopleā€™s needs, Knightā€™s is the best bet. Some of us require more accuracy, or adjustability because of hot ammo and/or a suppressor, etc.

For us/them, other guns, including JP offer what WE require for OUR AO.

If you ever experience combat youā€™ll realize the particular gun in your hand has almost nothing to do with it anyway. Itā€™s fine to want the best anyway (I do), but ā€œthe bestā€ depends on your needs.

but ā€œthe bestā€ depends on your needs.
And there it is................all that really matters.

For the record, JP & KAC are both great guns, somewhat different target audience (needs); I'd be happy if either was all I had.

MM

I would say roll with the KAC, they are built tough as nails and is something you can rely on. That thing will shoot when you pull the trigger, unless you're Garand Thumb and freeze it over ;). The KAC is a workhorse and the JP's are more competition from my experience. I've got a SR-15 CQB and I dont think I will be letting it go anytime soon, one of my favorite rifles to shoot. Hey if times get tough, you can trade your SR-15 for a house in todays market :ROFLMAO:

Yea, it was -14 air temp here in MN this morning. I didnā€™t have the inkling to take it outside and dump water on it for my own testing. Lol

Thatā€™s about the truth in trading the rifle for a house, or at least a new ford super duty. šŸ˜‚

So after some serious back and forth Iā€™m gonna hang on to the KAC and put 1k towards ammo and also get signed up for some carbine classes this summer. I think this option will benefit me the most. I definitely need to shoot more and get some training. If I order the JP I know Iā€™ll keep both. If I go too crazy the wife will catch on to all my shenanigans.

Iā€™m on some lists for 14.5ā€ and 11.5ā€ KACā€™s. If/when those start coming back around and I can snatch one up, I will rehash the 16ā€ or longer gun option at that time.

Iā€™m worse than my wife and home decor. Lol. We have no less than 5 boxes of stuff show up every week and it all gets returned. šŸ˜‚

11.5ā€ and 14.5ā€ KACs are available, you just have to be willing to pay.

Yea, Iā€™m not paying the crazy prices. Iā€™ll wait it out and hopefully I get a call from Chuck in the next year. šŸ˜‚
Best thing to do is find a Knights dealer and get on one of their waitlists, they seem to have more pull than if you contact Knights directly. Thats been my experience with them.

I think Iā€™m on at least 4 or 5 online lists and with Kelly Enterprises.

@DeathBeforeDismount are you going to post the institutional testing you have conducted, or are you just going to call me ignorant, imply you've completed such things, and then not prove a fucking thing?

In all honesty, you've had my attention for the past few days, waiting for your response.

You may have forgotten, but rest assured that Pepperidge Farms never forgets.

Well, I went into the LGS and ordered up the CTR-02. Oops.

I did the full mass BCG and the H2 silent captured spring. I wanted to go for full reliability and if I get the inkling I might get a suppressor in the next year or so.

Iā€™m gonna also keep the KAC. Iā€™m selling a couple handguns and a shotgun that donā€™t get used to help take away a little bit of the sting.

Why the hell would you go and do something so stupid? You plan on playing Chutes N' Ladders with your JP? Fucking untested, game gun, pile of ass!!

HAHAHA!!

In all seriousness, great choice.

Great choice! You wonā€™t be disappointed.

i ordered and got a 14.5" mod 2 and an 11.5"

first blush i can see the hype on the 14.5.

debating about swapping a criterion core 18" on the 11.5 and having a true do all rig.

I went this route, no regrets. I did want to try that specwar upper from LMT though.

Donā€™t bother. Itā€™s an inch longer and has no QD swivels at the end (improvement); there thatā€™s the only difference to the CQB MLOK MRP.

Listen, my wife says an extra inch matters so I have it burned into my head. I just wanted to try it to see if the hype matched the performance. I still have a bunch of lowers to build out before I would actually buy a factory rifle or upper again.

I'd tune the knights. Tubbs spring. 308 or a5 tube and a5 h2 buffer. Maybe a nox or war comp. The JP won't give you E3 bcg.

I'd prefer a lmt mrp or mws for many reasons. Particularly as a do it all type deal. In the end, you are talking top tier. Flip a coin. Shouldn't matter to anyone but you, what you pick.

Iā€™d look for a scary looking muzzle device and a flash light too, makes it more scary for brandishing, which seems like what most of these things end up getting used for in PD duty

Iā€™m not sure how a scary muzzle device and flashlight will look on my 18ā€ barreled CTR02, but you seem like a trustworthy person from the internet so I guess I will do it.

Love my CTR as well, blended brake, but itā€™s used exclusively for shooting, not brandishing.

You can't go wrong with either but I own 3 JP Rifles and I will Never sell them, JP Rifles are some of if not the best AR's on the Market.

I own 3 JP rifles Two of them are JP LRP-07 and One is a JP-15 and I never had a finer Rifle in my life.

I have several JP's. My favorite by FAR is a side charger. Actually, it's dual charge with the typical top charge handle and the addition of a side charge handle. I think they call is PSC now. Seems like a minor detail until you've lived with one. It eliminates the need for an extended top charge handle if you're running a scope, and it's super convenient if you're prone and need to run the bolt. If you end up going the JP route, I'd advise giving that a good hard look.

I have both. The JP does everything the KAC does but shoots smoother, more accurately, and the fit and finish is a couple steps above. JP all day. My SR15 sits back in the safe gathering dust. More of a collectors piece at this point.
This 100% I have 3 JPs. Unmatched to anything else Iā€™ve shot.
