The last generation of US Military to shine boots. I still have my last pair of black boots before we changed to suede boots and new uniforms.
During an Officers Advanced Course my "friends" in the class found my records showed I never went through the gas chamber after 12 years of service, always was legitimately somewhere else. So, plotting with the cadre my classmates pulled the valves from my gas mask I was issued. While in the chamber, which had been cleared, we were ordered to don our gas mask. When I attempted to seal my mask our course I was "sucking wind." Ha, Ha, Ha... then they popped the gas. Luckily it wasn't at the normal levels for training. After I left the gas chamber I thought maybe I should have started rolling on the floor... gagging, eyes rolled back, faking a seizure. Now that would have been funny!!!
No emblem on mine. I’m on my fifth battle uniform (if you count deserts), third dress uniform, and fourth PT uniform. Every time they tell me it’s to save me money…they need to just stop.
No iron on emblems? IIRC we had to iron on the emblem and getting it set right, left to right and up and down, or the blouse was screwed.
New face scrapers arrived. NEVER seen anything like them (and they were a pain in the ass to get. Had to have a buddy in France send the woman a check and then forward them) but they are unique. Open comb (And suspiciously British RFB like) but once you tighten them down you can back them off and there is a little detent in the stem so you can count the clicks. The copper is pretty cool too! Anybody read German? There are instructions included. 
Face and eyes on fire, blind, snot hanging from nose to toes. Wonderful times. Lol
First time I went though the chamber, we had a kid that went for a couple minutes before it kicked in, then it was like a firehose coming out of his nose. The CBRNE folks said they never saw anyone last that long...or have such a reaction when it finally took hold. Hehe
When I was LEO, my Freeze +p was on my rig belt. When I sat in the car, somehow I'd hose myself, no matter where on the belt I located it. Will open everything up, before it closes it off, for sure. Lol
