    Help with .224 Valkyrie guys/gals...

Sounds like Savage is going to back their product. It could be a lot worse. I had a bad experience with an Online AR dealer in FLA who built me an upper in 224 VAL. The chamber was too tight and the bolt would NOT Lock Up and I had to take the upper to a local gunsmith and pay them to fix it.

    Help with .224 Valkyrie guys/gals...

I have been shooting the 224 VAL for about 2 months now. My 1st experience with Federal AE 75 grain FMJ was not good. They would not chamber in my rifle. Pulled the bullets- primers- powder and ran ALL the brass thru a RCBS small base die set and reloaded the ammo. The reloads all fed with no...

    Help with .224 Valkyrie guys/gals...

Did you adjust your gas valve to compensate for the suppressor and ammo you are using ? Check the Savage attachment on this thread. I don't think the 1 : 7 Twist Barrel can handle anything more than 90 grains without suffering accuracy issues.

Caliber Choices - Comparison and Applications

I have shot the 308 WIN The 260 REM and Now I shoot the 22-250 REM in bolt rifles. Notice the trend here? Decreasing in caliber as I age. Just now getting into the 224 VAL in AR-15 Platform. I do reloading. The hard truth is that most shooters including myself do not ever shoot over 500 yards...

    SAVAGE MSR ALERT

"It's long been accepted that a primer popping out of a case when a round is fired is an absolute indication of high pressure. This is usually referred to as "blown" primer. However, it can also occur because a gas-operated, semi-automatic rifle is not properly timed. In other words, the bolt...

    Ruger 77/357 Bolt Action

This rifle is a blast to shoot. Shot about 60 rounds thru it and it shoots accurate and feeds reliable. Nice compliment to your 357 Mag Revolver. https://www.ruger.com/products/77Series77357/models.html

    *JUST RELEASED* Hornady 224 Valkyrie ammo 88gr ELD-M .545 G1 BC 2700fps

The 224 VAL really needs a 1 : 6.5 Twist rate to shoot the 90 and 95 grain SMK's. I believe we are buying a bunch of barrels that were originally 1:7 223 and reamed out to 224 VAL as to get on the market quick. I eventually want to get a Shilen or ER Shaw Barrel that is 1 : 6.5 for my 22-250...

    SAVAGE MSR ALERT

The gun shop guy was shooting Federal Premium 90 Grain SMK Factory Loads. Once he contacted Savage and adjusted the gas block for that SPECIFIC ammo his primer and cycling issues disappeared. The Savage attachment states the gas block is adjustable for each specific type of ammo you are...

American Eagle 224 VAL 75 Grain TMJ- FYI

Not sure of brand because the upper was built by online builder in Florida. 24" S/S HB BBL 1:7 Twist It appears to me that my Chamber/ head space is on the MIN Side of SAAMI Specs and the Federal American Eagle Ammo brass is sized to the MAX SAAMI Specs. The cure for this will be to run...

American Eagle 224 VAL 75 Grain TMJ- FYI

This ammo will not chamber properly in my 224 VAL Upper. The Lot Number is : 62P339 Ecessively Tight Fit and will Not Eject without tapping the charging handle rearward lightly with a plastic hammer. The Federal Premium 90 grain SMK Match Ammo functions normally in this same rifle.

Hunting & Fishing Caliber for Mountain Lion

My woods gun is a RUGER GP100 S/S - 6" BBL- Loaded with Hornady 158 Grain FP-XTP to MAX Hornady Specs. I'm more likely to encounter a Wild Feral Pig than a mountain lion although there mountain lion spottings in this part of the Country. More than caliber is that you have confidence in whatever...
