    Re: 3 gun/go to gun I don't think the accuracy will be the issue. The reason people use the 18" or longer with the rifle length gas tube is recoil impulse.

    Re: Smith and Wesson M&P15 for 3 gun? A dpms 3G1 is worth looking into. Reasonable price and a few of the options you would upgrade to. For irons I would recommend a longer light weight barrel, 20". I would also look at putting the front sight out as far as you can.

    Re: .22 Uppers For a good starter I think the S&W is great because it is lightweight and runs with most ammo. If it is something more for yourself a heavier NC is the best out there now.

    Re: Whats YOUR primary reason.... I use it for the recoil impulse. I am not sure that it makes a big accuracy difference, never tested for that.
