True dat, but....historically speaking it's "Possible" it could have gotten into a C stock after 1943 if the original Scant had been damaged :) Plus the "C" just looks better.
Like a musket. cLICK....One thousand one...boom.....:D The lock time on it seems forever but all in all shot ....didn't hit the target since it has A-1 sites
I see the speedlock system has been discontinued - anyone know why? It was an incredible difference, IMHO. Anyone know the factory spring lbs vs the 18lb spring he sells? And of course if someone has an old one lying about PM me.
Yes! It's not as unique, just had to know where to go (Pacific tool in Oregon has them). Was $1150 out the door for the barrelled action, technically is 40x per the contract and stamped as such. I "believe" I got the 9th post-contract action based on m y serial number.
So I was going to do an M1903A4 clone with this until I looked up the serial number and found it was a 1903 "Modified". So I took it out of it's hunting stock and started buying NOS M1903 parts for it and a few years later she was complete The stock has been properly stamped for 1903 modified...
Been working on this rifle since mid December. Finally together. USMC M40 barrelled action left over from contract (With U.S. stamps!!) , 40x stock, Vortex Viper scope and Turner Saddlery sling. I do not like shooting from the bench so once zero'd I was not shooting as well but a 1" - 1.25"...
I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on another 1907 sling - but there's so many options for semi-autos now. What length is the M40's sling? I do plan to shoot comp with a glove so I intend to use the sling as a brace. I don't feel like ripping the sling off my 1903 to find out either LOL
I sold one just like that years ago, would love to get it back but that's OK. I'd get one if I saw one but it did have a few disadvantages, such as the height on it....the weight. Optics were the best though!! Probably going with a Vortex Viper, close out at Sportsmans for 299 LOL
I actually like this thread, and now I'm open to checking out other brands. Unless I can find an SN-6 from yesteryear but they were so big. I'll start a new thread with preferred optics. Quite honestly at one time a Tasco Super-SNiper was going to be my choice since I don't shoot as often...
Let me ask - because I do know the history, I shot with a USO for several years and it was a superb scope! I don't know any history since John retired though.
Well I sold my SN-6 to a guy on the site, certainly would love to get it back if he's here. Otherwise I will check out the FDN line - no chinese crap for me.
While back some young rip-off artist took me for $250 here, rather irritated me but Frank gave me some IP's and I tracked the B*stard down in Houston. Sent him a photo of his front door and I gleaned major satisfaction from that :) Anyway I've been building another rifle, albeit slowly. Hope...
