Re: Any good places to send a rifle for barrel work? Holy shit, after almost 5 months I was finally told today only 2 weeks to go. At this rate 2 weeks is probably 5 more if you compare it to the 2 months turning into 5... same difference right?!?!?!?
Re: Any good places to send a rifle for barrel work? Thanks all. I'm calling Bruno's in the morning and getting an answer... most likely I'm gonna pick it up since I can't ever find anything out. I'll buy shooting supplies but nothing else from them again!!!
I am completely disgusted with Bruno's... my custom Rem 700 only went in for a new barrel in .338 RUM, opening up the bolt face and timing a muzzle brake. I took it there in May and was promised the beginning of July and the barrel was there in stock... it is now October and they haven't even...
Re: Windage Constants There are no true constants with windage. It would require a perfectly consistent wind in a specific direction over non-varying terrain. Shooting for so many years I don't calculate. I read the wind and terrain and put my best guess on it for hold and get it right...
Re: Rifle angle shooting I can't see any range that far screwing people on the "known" distance if the angles are extreme. As long as you have your correct dope set for the distance shoot it. If its off then check your angle and get the correction. Do you have verified dope for all distances...
Re: looking for some basic tips to ruduce parralax Get ready to lay behind your rifle and close your eyes. Once you get into a comfortable spot and you feel as though you are comfortable and ready - open your eye and see how it looks with out moving your head. If the shadow is on one side...
Re: Left or Right handed action Been shooting a right handed gun for many years as a lefty and there are advantages to doing so. Cheek weld can be maintained and grip can remain unchanged while cycling the bolt. With practice it can be done in any position effectively and it is quicker for...
Re: How much does barrel length effect range? If you want to do it and your scope can be adjusted for more of a drop, do it. You can always be disappointed then put a new barrel on it after that - it's only money.
Re: New Barrel Needed Good choice on going with a new barrel. With that many original rounds it would not be cost effective to have the machine work done on a pretty burned out barrel.
Re: Changing from right hand to left hand Sad to hear but the odds of something bad happening very often is extremely low. Firearms are potentially dangerous regardless. Matches are usually hand loaded and sometimes shit happens. Again though, it is sad to her.
Re: twist question... Tape is the best... cheap trick. I push the cleaning rod in and put the tape flag at the end of the receiver. When it turns a full twist i measure really quick and done... however all the new rods I have came with the little dot by the handle...
Re: 4 groove vs 5 groove As stated in almost all posts already there have been no specific facts ever presented that any shoot better than the other. You can make 4 groove barrels shoot worse than 5 grooves if you just happen to load different or the throat is different or bullet seating...
