As much as I would like to agree with you, for my own gain...I think ALL previous AI owners got shafted on the new pricing. If the new base AT308 rifle is $3550, with the bonded AW action, using double stack mags, adjustable trigger, front rail...the old AE's price just went in the shitter.
I had a difficult time getting mine to line up properly. Started tightening from the back towards the front, but the farther I got, the more offset the holes were. I had to go back and install all of them loosely and then gradually tighten as I went forward. I didn't have any strip though.
This is exactly the problem I have...I got the Viperskins with the regular grip, but with my long fingers I could use a thicker grip. Maybe something like a Hogue Hand-all? Or is the XL grip made to fix this problem?
I have an AE MK III .308 with a Bushnell G2DMR...it is an awesome combination. Quality scope...tracks perfectly, very clear optics, love the reticle. It goes great with the AI...a very robust, reliable, and accurate firearm.
I have the new GS2 with Intex frame. It seems like a sturdy system. I'm 6'2", with a long torso and I find the pack a little small (short) even when adjusted to the max. Very well made, top quality materials. Comfortable with a bunch of gear and my 17lb AI.
This thread has great timing...I just received my AE MK III, yesterday morning, and almost had a case of buyers regret. It is my 1st tac-rifle, and the most I've ever spent on a firearm. The build quality of this gun is incredible. Closes up like a bank vault. Thanks to everyone in this...
