    Show Your Hunting Rifles!

tikka t3 CTR 260 rem 20" barrel scope: swfa ss 3-15 Allegedly this rifle will be imported in 260 rem soon-ish. I intend to take it hunting, but probably not until next year since it's not scheduled to show up until late October.

    Tikka T3 CTR?

Maybe someone with more knowledge about importing rifles can answer this question for me. Why would the 308's be available while the 260's are still months away? Maybe it's just a different assembly line thing, but if it's because some guy that's in charge of the 260 division over at Sako is...

    Rifle Scopes Swfa 3-15hd

A locking diopter is an excellent suggestion. I agree, this would be an upgrade.

    Rifle Scopes Swfa 3-15hd

I agree that the smaller objective is good. 44mm would be better. 50 mm is too large.

    Rifle Scopes Swfa 3-15hd

I would like to see the upgraded turrets as well. Leave the current cattail. Illumination would be fun but not necessary. I love my SS 3-15. If they want to go in a different direction then they might think about a zero stop.

    Rifle Scopes Youtube video

I'm gonna chime in here and defend Rex as well. I watched his series, and I really appreciated the time and effort he invested to share his knowledge. He may not mount scopes the way that you'd like him to, or chose the equipment that you would have chosen, but I don't see you (directed at OP)...

    Stabilizing the .308 220 grain

I'm glad to see that the 208's were working for you. The 208's are longer that than the 220's (1.340 for the 208's and 1.292 for the 220's), so the 208's are actually less stable than the 220's are given the same twist and MV that we have in this case. I suspect that we are not looking as a...

    Stabilizing the .308 220 grain

The question of bullet stability is not the same thing as accuracy of the load. Did the bullets go straight through the paper? Did they go sideways through the paper? If they punched straight through then they are stable. If you see large oval shaped or bullet profile shaped holes then they...

    New Tikka 20" 260 ?

I really would prefer the CTR rifle to be stainless and have a 20 moa rail, but I still ordered one. No telling where it is; the ETA for that thing was mid July. Maybe they meant to say mid August... Time will tell I guess.

    Stabilizing the .308 220 grain

I agree that the RN 220 bullets would be a much better choice for a 11.25 twist barrel. Here's the stability region for that; They're actually kind of ideal.

    Stabilizing the .308 220 grain

A 16" 308 should be able to push a 220 MK to about 2200 fps. And with a 9.5 twist rate the stability region looks like this: Looks like you're in good shape in any altitude and temperature.

    Stabilizing the .308 220 grain

It's not the primary variable; temperature is just the most likely to change. I made the graph that way, because it just seemed the most reasonable way to display the data. I mean, it's not like you're likely to change elevation by several thousand feet with the same temperature, right...

    Stabilizing the .308 220 grain

The stability of the bullet is not quite as straight forward as it looks at first glance. I've plotted the stability domain to answer the question originally posted. The stability of the bullet is dependent on several things; and as such it varies even if we assume the muzzle velocity is...

    Another 30-06 load question

I had heard that too, but I just finished analyzing some 30-06 cases that I fired in my rifle with strange results. I have federal cases and lapua case. The federal cases weighed on average 201.51gr + - .53gr and the Lapua cases weighted 197.5gr + - .31gr. The case volume H2O weight was...
