Did Steiner just quietly build the MPO we have all been asking for? H6xi

It's middle of the road. Not daylight bright, but good for low light. This image is 10 minutes before sunset with the dial set at 7 out of 11.

    Tankless water heater? Any experience?

After experience with multiple brands of tankless and standard water heaters, I recommend tankless only if it will sit idle for long periods, then have large demands from crowded houses. It's good for vacation homes. If it's just a couple or small family with daily, intermittent usage, I'd...

Did Steiner just quietly build the MPO we have all been asking for? H6xi

It interfered with the Spuhr A-0010 interface. I had to fix the problem with a dremel. It needs only moderate relief and I was done in 10 minutes. The forward tube length is very short and my Spuhr SP-3616 fits with zero room for adjustment fore or aft.

The horizontal stadia are not there entirely for wind. The TMR is a tactical reticle, therefore it has means of communicating target location and engaging moving targets - both essentials for an SPR'ish optic. I'll take them for hunting/varminting too. Spotters/binos with full field milling...

What is the ideal SHTF optic?

For the scenario the OP lays out, I second the motion that an ACOG with Piggyback RDS IS the ideal optic setup. It's proven, rugged, relatively light and offers redundancy. A lightweight MPVO or fixed 10X with a combo'd RDS would be ideal, but a proper candidate does not (really) exist. There...

I see vendors showing MPN 8782 with STR-Mil in stock, but there is still no imagery of the reticle. Does anyone have a photo from one in the wild?

    Need help with scope selection

Is there a reason you skipped over the Razor LHT 4.5-22x50 while doing your research? It's a pretty well rounded design and within your budget. It's lighter than the Mk5 and NX8 too.

Rifle Scopes Who wants a New Vortex Razor Gen3 2-12x42 with EBR-9 reticle?

Actually, 27 oz is fine, as long as they integrate a 1.350" height picatinny mount with 6 mils cant. Again, more of a dedicated optic and less of a hunting scope. Spending $300 on a 7 oz mount is just silly anyway. In fact, let's up the the price tag to $2,300 since we're eliminating Geissele...

Rifle Scopes Who wants a New Vortex Razor Gen3 2-12x42 with EBR-9 reticle?

I'd buy a few of the scopes you describe, but I'd get more specific about the numbers. There will be tradeoffs. Great eyebox - Good eye relief requires either a large eyepiece or proximity. I would sacrifice eye relief to gain FOV. An optics manufacturing company may balk at this for...

Is the H6Xi 2-12 available with a Mil based, non BDC reticle? If so, I would like to order 10 of them.

    Discreet carbine carrying case?

Carrying assembled will require much greater levels of deception. Even then, a trained eye will not be fooled. A keyboard case and musicians wardrobe will make the average observer more comfortable. That's about it. However, breaking it down and fitting cleverly into a backpack is much more...
