I am about to start hunting coyotes with my AR15 which loves 69gr SMK. Ill be hunting out in the Eastern Plains of Colorado, and long accurate shots are a must. I'm looking to skin and sell the pelts. My question is, "Are 69gr SMK suitable for the job with the little expansion they provide?"

That might have happened. I have a Titan comp indexed on and i don't think he took it off for bead blasting.

So at the range and right now after cleaning I checked everything except for taking off the hand guard and checking the barrel nut. The Smith put the scope and mount on using blue locktite. As for as the CeraKote, only the upper, lower, and hand guard were done. Everything else was left alone.

Looking for your thoughts on this situation: Recently took my rifle to a gunsmith to be stripped of DuraCoat and replaced with CeraKote. Also had the Smith mount a new Scope while he had the rifle (Steiner Tactical 3-12x56, Badger Ordnance Uni Mount). Took my rifle out to the range today...

I want to give Rocky Mountain Weaponry a shout out for the Cerakote they did on my AR15. Very happy with the results.

Any thing that gives you an advantage regardless of the margin is still an advantage. I say try new things see if they work and let the rest of us here on SH know your results. Once my Sent-Lok gets in I will be putting it through the paces and posting back here what I find.

I go out to the Pike's National Forrest about 2 a month for shooting and off roading. I've never run into this situation, but it sounds dangerous. I normally head up 24 and when I get to Divide I take a right at the light and head out towards Hackett Gulch. There was a bad fire out there...

A good note is that the Sheriff's office owns the 1000 yard range and it is only open to the public on the weekends.
