    So, added all together, what I am hearing is that I have much more reading to do and to walk before I run. Any suggestions about books, etc. that would encompass enough to get me started?

    Agreed. My only reasoning was that with my completely out of the box rock river eop, I can hit a 12x12 plate out to 700 pretty easily using the same ballistic program stated above. My 260 is three times the rifle so I assumed (probably wrongly) that I should be able to accomplish a 1000yd shot...

    Ok I will try to validate at 800 or so, but I don't understand the density altitude thing. Is it different from just altitude? Do I have to have a special kestral or something? How do you figure that? This is why I put this in the stupid questions forum. I know I am missing one or several...

    Ok so I take my nifty new 260 with a 24 inch cbi barrel, zero it at 100 yds, (avg group size .3") enter my load data into strelok, calculate clicks up at 1000yds, pull the trigger several times, and completely miss the 16" square target. I bring a target in to 300 yes and do the velocity...
