Savage guys??? Which savage to buy??

Get the cheapest used Savage or Stevens with the bolt face that you want and build a rifle from that. It will save you money in the long run because it won't stay stock long (don't ask how I know).

Rifle Scopes Scope Bases (Analysis Paralysis)

I did bed the rear of the base. It was not hard and I am not sure if it needed to be bedded due to the rail not fitting properly or the action being slightly off. Either way the rail has held up and the rifle shoots well.

Rifle Scopes Scope Bases (Analysis Paralysis)

I have been running a weaver 0 moa rail on my savage. It has served me well for the $25 that I spent. My rifle is not a safe queen but I don't go out of my way to beat on it either. I have not tried one but the DNZ tactical mounts are a one piece (rings and base) and can be had in 20 moa and...

Rifle Scopes Vortex 2.5-10x44 PST owners - how bad is it?

I use one on my hunting AR. I have read the stuff about the glass but to be honest I can't see it. I believe there might be a little parallax but for hunting purposes it is not enough to cause a miss at several hundred yards. Overall I am happy with the scope and features for what I paid.

    Rifle Scopes Perplexed about S&B

The method I use doesn't require any markings. Point the thumb of your right hand in the direction you want the bullet to impact then curl your fingers. The direction you curl your fingers indicates which direction the turret should be turned. This will work on any CCW scope and requires no...

savage shooters call out for advice....

I have a 20" CBI varmint taper in 223 and it is insanely accurate. It shoots everything from 40 gr to 75 gr well. It is also the easiest barrel to clean and it never has copper in it. A buddy of mine had a McGowan and the story was the same for him. Not sure you can go wrong with any quality...

Rifle Scopes Which to keep, Bushnell 6500 2.5-16x50 or Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50?

Depends on what you intend to use the rifle for. If it is a do all rifle then 2.5-16 is more useful than 6.5-20. However, if it is a range/varmint only rifle then I would say keep the viper as a little extra mag is always handy.

    Vortex 2.5-10x32 on a custon SPS tactical 223 18"

Not exactly the same but I was running a 2.5-10X44 PST on my 20" 223. I found it was about perfect except for the lack of parallax adjustment. From all accounts the new 2.5-10x32 is better than the x44 so I imagine it would be just fine on an 18" rifle. As a side note I put the PST on my 16"...

new to me savage 12fv 223rem

Re: new to me savage 12fv 223rem I have the same rifle and I was able to stabilize 75 A-maxs. My rifle shot 68s, 69s, and 75 very well.

Rifle Scopes Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x44 MOA

Re: Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x44 MOA I am running a mil/mil version on my bolt 223. The only complaint is that it doesn't have PA. Tracking has been perfect. The reticle subtentions are also spot on with the turrets.

Rifle Scopes Introductory Precision Scope Under $500?

Re: Introductory Precision Scope Under $500? About a month ago Camera Land NY had some open box 2.5-10 PSTs for a good price. You might want to give them a call. I have one on my bolt action and they are very nice for the price. If you are looking for a FFP then the SWFA 3-9 Is a really...

    Savage pre fit barrels

Re: Savage pre fit barrels I don't know what the lead times are now but I ordered a CBI barrel from Jim and it only took 6 weeks for it to show up. Also McGowan usually has shorter waits. Have you checked Midway? They have some savage prefits.

Rifle Scopes Weaver Tactical GS vs SWFA 10x42M for Rimfire

Re: Weaver Tactical GS vs SWFA 10x42M for Rimfire If you are only using it for long range training I would suggest the SS due to the large amount of internal adjustment. Also parralax adjustment is nice on a rimfire.

    S&W M&P15 Sport

Re: S&W M&P15 Sport I picked one up about 3 months ago and am very happy with it. I have about 200 rounds through it without any issues. I use it mainly of hunting in the desert and fun at the range. For the price it can't be beat. There are some people who don't like the sports because...

    Rifle Scopes Minox Scope

Re: Minox Scope I have a 2-10X40. The glass is great. The adjustments are mushy but seem to track true and the scope holds zero for me. I think they make decent hunting scopes but I would not want to dial a lot with how mushy the turrets are.
