I've been waiting for Magpul to do this for a long time. There are other manufacturers that make similar products, but not at this price point. (that I'm aware of) The rattle doesn't bother me and the angle of the bag rider is about the same as a regular hunting stock.
You’re not alone. I put one on my turkey shotgun (wrapped Rem. 1100M) and liked it so much I am putting one on my Mossberg 500 and my Win. M94 in 45 Colt. The Winchester is going to make a really nice short-range deer/pig popper.
My money is on a defect in the barrel steel. That putting looks awfully deep and awfully localized. Too much so IMO to have been caused by rust, particularly since it’s a stainless barrel. The last photo is particularly suspicious. Look at the corner where the land meets the groove and you’ll...
Lookin’ good! I had to correct some sapwood on the stock of my Win. 94 AE and wound up using that same ratio but with red mahogany instead of gunstock.
Brown Acraglass is probably your best bet for that. Tung oil if that’s what you like, but I prefer something a bit more durable, like Brownells’ Acra-Coat for Wood. It also looks like you have a bit more wood on one side of that fore end than the other, so you can still take a little off if...
