Re: bedding DIY ? Devcon has a five year shelf life. Each container has a use by date on the label. I just bedded an action last week. I was very concerned as to the outcome because I have never done it before. Loads of great info here and studying the action fit to the stock helped me...

Re: removing bedding I would say a Dremel is probably the best way to remove bedding material from existing stock. Go easy and take your time and you will see were the bedding ends and stock begins.
