    I'm pretty sure Chad can cut smiley faces in your reciever if you want them. 😆 At the end of the day, the task of clip slotting is probably almost child's play for a CNC machinist of his level. He just needs the specs. The Vietnam era M40 and the later M40A1 probably have some variations.

    You don't want a short barrel on a cartridge built for speed. Not that any modern factory made rimfire is remotely heavy or overly long in the first place compared to our match rifles. Keep the barrel as long as possible to keep the speed up. Most guys aren't really walking p-dog colonies...

    No offense to you...but that stock is about the worst design ever made. Too many issues to list.

    The soft side of stick on velcro tape. Cut a 1/2" to 1" piece and slap it on the mag body to try and fill the void. Or get a couple of mags. Mine does same thing with 2 older mags. One works just fine.

    I shot 17HMR a ton when it first came out. Bought a couple cases of ammo when you could get it for $5.99 a box. Shot prairie dogs, coons, jack rabbits, and a bunch of smaller stuff. Even got a coyote in the middle of a blizzard at night with it at like 200 to 250-ish Hail Mary shot...

    The easy button option would be a chassis. Since they are solid single shot recievers ....putting them in traditional BDL style 700 SA stocks would require you use a bottom metal or a hinged floorplate with the spring and follower removed. Or having a custom stock fitted or made. Not sure...

    Not a CZ 457 or 455. They have easy to swap out barrels. You can convert to .22lr, .22WMR, .17M2, or 17HMR with just a corresponding barrel and magazine if going to the magnums from standard. You could probably find factory barrels on gunbroker. And Lilja makes aftermarket ones.
