    260 rem VS 6.5 creed

Thank you all for the responses. This is all for expectation management. It’s my understanding that at some point you run into mag length issues with certain projectiles with the 260. Where is sort of the bullet weight red line for the 260? If there’s not general red line, are there certain...

    260 rem VS 6.5 creed

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but for guys with .260 Rem experience, can I have just as much enjoyment and practical results for PRS type and prone long distance steel shooting? I know Creedmoor is the king in the retail department so let’s assume I would strictly hand load. Rifle would be a...

    Proof Research Elevation

I like that stock. Did you buy an after market stock, paint it, or get from proof like that? I thought these came with black stock only.

    6.5 CM vs .260 Rem

I was looking at Berger’s website and was surprised to see their 6.5 Creedmoor 130 grain hybrid with a published velocity faster than that of their 260 rem with the same bullet. All things being equal I would think the 260 would be faster. Out of curiosity am I missing something?

What’s a used AW usually run? Any savings/disadvantages vs an AT or should I just go for the AT? These things are pricey (although comparable to a custom in price) but I have my mind made up I want an AI.

    AI AT headspace?

There are are no problems as you’re suggesting. That’s just how AI designed the spec. As long as it doesn’t close on a field gauge and closes with zero resistance on a go-gauge you’re fine. These are battle rifles designed to work with a multitude of ammo and the barrel specs are reflective of...

    What caliber...

I'd say .308 just for the sake of learning the wind instead of having the cartridge/caliber do it for you. A lot of learning can be done with a .308 out to 600 yards. People tend to forget that and only want to tout their ballistics and low recoil. Yeah, I get it. There are advantages to those...

bgolf and bad finger are your barrels the factory 1:12 twists? Just curious since I plan on getting an AT someday and having fun with the 308 for as long as possible too. Thanks!

6.5CM vs 270 WIN vs 308 Best all around hunting/entry long range rifle?

Yup. I also agree that 7mm RM, 300WM, or 30-06 are ideal elk options. The ones you listed would be great for whitetails. Check out this link: Myth Busting Big Game Calibers. It's a great article/data set that I keep in my favorite links and always refer back to when I'm faced with these type...

    Any Sako A7 shooters?

Thanks! Congrats on the new rifle too! They do make the range version too. Same rifle with heavy fluted barrel and raised comb. Similar to a Sendero in weight and balance, but not ideal to carry. I think you did good!

    Any Sako A7 shooters?

I'm pretty familiar with them. Probably my next hunting rifle in '06 or 6.5 CM. The Roughtech stock is really nice. I haven't seen one of the threaded ones in person yet, but I've seen them on buds and other places. Any pics? Especially of the brake and thread protector? Also, did you use the...

Which factory rifle out of the three?

I'm in a similar dilemma just with a Win Model 70 Extreme Weather in place of the Christensen. I've never really cared for the aesthetics of the Christensen. Just my personal preference. To me, if you want a Model 70 action or derivative, the Winchester is top dog in smoothness of operation...
