    I have the Rem 700 in the 16.5" barrel w/ the 1-9 TWT. With 25.8 of Varget, mine will shoot the 69 gr SMK in tiny groups. I'm at 2.300 COAL which is about .025 off the lands

    I own one. Swapped out the trigger and had the forearm stiffened when I the action was bedded. This has allowed me to shoot off a bipod. And shoot it does...it really likes both the 53 and 69 SMK's

    Re: cleaning bolt action rifle for friend If its real bad, fire lapping may be necessary. Your friend can order a complete kit at davidtubb.com. Depending on the level of neglect, it may be the only way to bring the barrel back around. I believe the kit will cost around $40. Good luck.
