I'm not saying every rutted track is closed off, but they have a bunch of the rutted tracks that have the brown identifying signs on them down south of Vegas in and around Prim. Those are roads, at least from my reading of the BLM rules. Plus, someone is periodically putting gravel in there...

BLM is generally available for shooting in Nevada. Up north of Vegas, there is a bunch of BLM land inside the County that is specifically designated no shooting. Get caught shooting up there you'll regret it. I've had 2 different spots effectively destroyed for my use in ELR shooting by tools...

I'm going to clarify one thing that Dan said. The 1,660 fps muzzle velocity used in the fast twist was not randomly selected. The velocity produces a known RPM at the muzzle, and that specific RPM was identified by using the known RPM decay rate on similar size, weight, and shape projectiles...

This is a Flat Line 151 gr. 7mm that was shot from a 284 Winchester from 1,900 yards. the one next to it is in pristine (ish) condition. Hundreds, if not a thousand flat line down range and this is the only time I've seen this effect. Image is from 2012.

Theis Everything you mentioned is currently available technology, just not as part of a target system (and it costs more than a bit of $$$ to put it all together at the same time same place). Why do you want the "target" to provide all of that information? Most if not all of the information...

I'm not sure I agree that targets are the weak point in ELR, but recording target impacts have been somewhat challenging for match organizers when it comes to funding a real time video recording system. I still prefer video and video recording to the other systems in place, but that is me...
