A commercial hand loader told me years ago to pay close attention to the charge weight after you see a string. All of your groups around 43.4 are at 10-11 o'clock. I would stay there and get some groups out to 500 yards or so. Also need to start chronographing your shots.

I tried the 285 AMAX a few years back, but ended up staying with the 300 Berger because I couldn't get the speed others were getting. I think 2,800 was max with Retumbo, and I was getting 2,800 with the Bergers. I have RL33 and RL26 on hand, and will probably go with one of those.

It shoots well. I've spent a fair amount of time shooting out to 2,000 yards with the 230 Hybrids and the 198 Flatlines. There's nothing wrong with the NM, just switching things up.

I got a couple hundred of the Midway bulk packed .338 Lapua brass this week, (Too good of a deal to pass up) so I think I will take off the .300 NM barrel and put the LM barrel back on. It's been a while since I've shot the .338. I need to get some bullets and am not sure what direction to go...

I get 2930 in a 26" Broughton 9.5 Twist. That's burning 90 grains of RL33 under a 230. Pressure shows up quickly after that.

I originally tried Retumbo, but ran into pressure trying to get to 2950. I think the jug that I have is hot as I had similar problems with .338 LM. I’m using RL 33, but I may try something else when I’m out as it will not meter in the Prometheus.
