One thing I noticed is you said the brass came from a rem 700 LTR and you set the shoulder back .003 thou. You just induced headspace by bumping the shoulder back when it (LTR Brass) may have fit your marlin with only neck sizing . You don't set headspace with fired or unfired cartridges...
