Bullet choice with 6.5 Creedmor for F Open

For those with more experience than myself....I posted this question over in the F Class section, but it's not getting any replies. I've been shooting the F class matches at my local club for the last year or so with a Rem .308 SPS - AAC . Now that i've finally gotten my custom 6.5 Creedmor, i'd...

    6.5 Creedmoor

My experience with RL-17 has been the same as jgorski's. It usually only takes two to three "wet" patches of Butch's bore shine, and then a couple of dry patches and it's good to go. I let the Butch's sit for five minutes or so before i run the dry patches through and I don't usually brush...

    F T/R Competition F Open bullet choice with a 6.5 Creedmor

Hello all, I've got a custom built 6.5 Creedmor with a 24" 1-8.5" twist Krieger barrel that I'd like to shoot the F open matches with at my local club. I'll also only be shooting at 600 and 800 yards. I've worked up three different loads with it so far, and all have had excellent results...

OCW test with Lapua 139 Scenars and RL-17 I was able to get out earlier today and run this test. I've had good success with the OCW method so far, so i used it again. I strayed from the original procedure and i seated all rounds to the lands. For my rifle, this is 2.269" measured from the...

    6.5 Creedmoor

It's a hammer for sure. So far I've had excellent results with the SMK 142's, and the Berger 130 VLD's. I'll definitely post my results from the 139's though. Kevin

    6.5 Creedmoor

Aim, I loaded up a test group of the 139's with RL-17 yesterday. Its going to be good and hot here this week, so I'm going to try and get out Wednesday and shoot them. I saw earlier in this thread that you shot them with good results so I picked up some to try myself. My rifle isn't a GAP, but...

    6.5 Creedmoor

I've been wanting to try out the 140 Hybrids myself. I have a 100 round box of the 140 target loads, but I haven't started playing with them yet. I worked up some Lapua 139 Scenars and RL17 last week, and they shot pretty well for me too. I've been fortunate so far though, because I've had good...

    OCW "after" the test question

Haha, if only it were so easy to just do that. H4350 might as well be from another planet right now.

    OCW "after" the test question

Dan, Here is a pic of the original results. If I understand your method correctly, I ended up going with the 40.5 as the middle charge. Do you concurr, or am I not reading the results correctly? Thanks, Kevin

    6.5 Creedmoor

Marcus, I'm not sure because I don't have a chronograph. That particular load came from Hodgdon's website though, and they reported 2737 fps at 41.5g. Good luck with the powder. The only complaint I have with it so far is that it leaves a good bit of residue on my case necks. It meters really...
