    Does this exist?

Sounds like you need a piece of foam, of the type found inside gun cases. If you can't find a big enough piece to fill the stock and cut pockets into, you could use thinner layers and just stack them on top of each other using glue to hold them together.

568 yards cold bore 5 shots DPMS in HD

That's definitely some good shooting. There's a lot to be said for getting a *lot* of practice. I've gone shooting in the mountains near here (Denver) exactly once, and the wind was crazy even at 100 yards. That is to say, I'm very impressed. Thank you for sharing. I'm actually more...

    M1 Garand seen this?

I will second pmclaine on this one. Having been to the South store a few times, I can tell you that the specials are damned nice.

    M1 Garand seen this?

For what it's worth, another possible cause for a double-tap is an excessively worn trigger pin. Just something else to check.

    M1 Garand seen this?

Take a look at the edges. It looks like there was a crack there before it was reparkerized. That's something they should have caught when putting the rifle together. If they're still in business, they should cover it. That sucks.

    .308 Semi-Build on a budget... sanity check?

SamNavy: My bad. I remembered seeing the receivers on that site, but apparently I found the wrong set when I was writing that post. They do have the Maten Ambi Lower and Upper set, but the price is $577. Mega Arms MATEN Billet .308 Upper and Ambi Lower Set So, still close to your...

    DPMS .308 at the range

I'll second the Rock River two-stage national match trigger. It's a quality product for a good price. Until you get a different trigger, one thing that can help with a mil-spec trigger is not using the tip of your forefinger for trigger manipulation. Try using a part further down toward or...

    308 build question parts

Edit: This says most of the same stuff as an earlier post of mine, which I did not think got posted. Sorry if there's any confusion. Fitting a rifle properly to the shooter can do a lot to mitigate felt recoil. If an A2 stock isn't long enough, for example, you could get one of the...

    308 build question parts

An adjustable gas block can help when you're using light loads, which will of course reduce recoil. Don't discount the effectiveness of a good muzzle brake either. Beyond that, felt recoil can be minimized by having a stock that's properly fitted to the shooter. If you're planning on using an...

    .308 Semi-Build on a budget... sanity check?

SamNavy: If you want a Maten Upper/Ambi-Lower set, RifleGear.com has the for around $400. Mega Arms Billet Upper/Lower Ambi Match Set Trochlea: It looks like the buffer tube is proprietary to the LAR-8, but it looks like their regular AR15 stocks (including the Operator A2) will fit any...

    DSA Fal vs M1a

If your attitude toward sights is "set and forget" and you prefer to do everything (magazine changes and working the charging handle or bolt release) with your support hand, I'd go with an FAL. It's also easier and cheaper to add optics to if you don't mind the non-traditional look of the DSA...
