Incredibly random yet oddly specific question- this one targeting longterm hockey fans...

You are correct. My first game was the old Boston Garden, circa 1970. Freezing, even in the nose bleeds. The new Garden, long sleeve shirt (or team sweater) is fine. I'm guessing it's the new technology for keeping the ice cold without making the building cold as well.

    Portable/Emergency Solar Panel

It will charge 18650s, that's what I have in the mesh radios.

    Portable/Emergency Solar Panel

I've had good luck with the Paleblue Approach 1 panel for charging batteries, mesh radio, etc. It's basically designed as a backpacking panel - hook it up to your phone or gps, attach it to your pack and keep things charged on the move. I'll often stick it in the window of my truck driving back...

    Carrington 2.0?

Ham radio HF just shut down completely, like someone flipped a switch. I'm hearing that 6m is riding the aurora for serious distance, I don't have a 6m antenna so can't verify.

    Carrington 2.0?

From Spaceweather.com - SEVERE GEOMAGNETIC STORM WATCH: Giant sunspot AR3664 has now hurled at least four CMEs directly toward Earth. Their combined arrival this weekend could spark severe (G4-class) geomagnetic storms with mid- to low-latitude auroras. Although this is a potentially...

    Portable/Emergency Solar Panel

I have built two solar battery boxes (I also disagree with the term solar generator), mostly for portable Ham radio use, but for emergency power backup as well. Both have Bioenno batteries, both have Bioenno solar panels, one has a Bioenno charge controller and one has a PowerMini II charge...

IFAK's - Kit List and Information

I'll jump on the splint question since we just finished teaching a training session on them - SAM splints will cover a multitude of issues, both in the wilderness and in/near civilization. If you can find training, get some, but even their web site offers some good information, and there are...

Why? Why not? Not every situation calls for a TQ. Would you rather have a TQ or a SWAT for a torso bleed?

IFAK's - Kit List and Information

The SWAT can be used as an effective TQ on small children and K9s, but not on adults. It can also be used as a compression bandage, and in combination with Kerlix or similar as an improvised Israeli bandage. Carry one if you have the room. As @powdahound76 said, CAT or SOFTT-W. Both have been...
