This is a nice looking unit. But it works on the theory that every primer pocket is the same depth. I have used the RCBS Automatic Primer Seater and after 100K+ rounds there have been no misfires. Primers are meant to be seated until the primer cup bottoms out in the pocket. That puts the primer...
I understand but isn't that the reason behind the turret press? To eliminate having to always change the dies and possibly losing that exact setting? The Lyman 8 station press turrets are $75-$80 each. This issue is that the price of these turret presses continues to add up.
That's the beauty of the Co-Ax. The dies are always set up and switch out in seconds. I would love to have a Zero press but not for that price. And to add to the cost of that press, their turrets add $225 for every 8 dies you have. I have 70+ dies so that would cost me an additional $1800...
Never tried the UC for removing lube but I assume it would work. But it might take away the shine (God forbid). After sizing I just put the cases in a vibrator tumbler with corn cob media for 20-30 mins. Takes off all the lube...inside and out, and it comes out with a nice shine. Remember, the...
That will work for 100-200 cases, I think. Get some plastic trays with holes in them (dollar tree store has them cheap). Ultrasonic cleaners work best when there is space between the cases and don't let anything touch the bottom of the tub.
45 mins in ultra sonic cleaner with Lemishine and Armor All Wash & Wax. Dry and put in vibrator cleaner with walnut media and NuFinish. And don't forget to put in a cut up used dryer sheet. You'll be surprised how much media dust the sheets collect. Putting brass in an ultra sonic cleaner...
I use the gauge pin that should give me the desired ID. I then try other pins to measure the actual ID (considering spring back). I document what pin I used for sizing and what pin gave me the actual "post sizing" dimension. Shooting will tell me what pin to use for sizing. The key is to keep...
Correct what is causing the runout problems. Maybe try an inline seating setup. I just don't like the idea of moving the bullet in the case after seating.
The chamber in the "dedicated" barrel will probably be different than the barrel you want to use for actual shooting. If you don't "hot rod" the fire-forming loads I think you'll be fine using the barrel you want to use for actual shooting. .223s are pretty easy on barrels.
When I used a fire-forming load for my 22-250 AI the groups were 5/16". That is plenty good enough for actual varmint shooting, IMO. Give it a try with bullets and see what the accuracy looks like.
