    Case cleaning

I deprime the brass, put it in an ultrasonic cleaner (with Lemishine and Dawn) for 45 mins, dry the brass then into a vibratory tumbler with walnut shells for 1 hr. Comes out as shiny as I want it and with minimal work. The reason I use the ultrasonic cleaner is to remove the carbon and primer...

    Case cleaning

Really shiny brass is the only benefit to using the wet method and pins. The cons to this method is damage (peening) to the neck and the possibility of pins getting stuck in the case. The cons definitely outweigh the pros. If you want REALLY shiny brass, get out the Brasso.

    Problem with bump gauge insert

You could always put it in a lathe and increase the bore a little. The 23* angle is the only important surface.

    Walnut media size

This is what I use: Zilla English Walnut Shell Get it on Amazon. It never sticks in flash holes or primer pockets...rifle or pistol.

    Primer seating depth?

The people who make those adjustable primer seating tools are just trying to make money on a problem that doesn't exist. And some of those people ask a commanding price for these tools. Save your money. Seat the primers until they bottom out and leave it at that. Anything less and you might...

    Bench Primer

I have used the RCBS Automatic Bench Priming Tool for several decades and it works great. Haven't tried the Forster unit but it looks like a good design. Whatever you do don't waste your money on those adjustable priming tools. Primers are designed to seated so the cup bottoms out in the primer...

    Mandrel size help

After sizing my brass with a Forster honed FL die I run a pin gauge thru it to open it up to the ID that gives my the interference fit I want. To verify the actual ID I use another smaller pin gauge. I usually have .0005" spring back with annealed LC brass. The difference between the neck ID...

Question on setting up sizing die for once-fired brass

When I resize brass the only thing I check is the base-to-shoulder distance with a Hornady type device. If it's where I want it, I'm good. Then I check to see if I have to trim the neck. With a semi-auto reliability is the main concern, then accuracy.

Question on setting up sizing die for once-fired brass

With a semi-auto I would go for .003" shoulder set-back (for reliable feeding) BUT try it the way you described and see if it works. If it does, go for it. Semi-autos are always a pain to determine accurate base-to-shoulder measurements.

Anyone using T-Tracks on reloading Bench?

Another factor is if you want to use the bench for other projects. You'll have to put up with the grooves. That is what kept me from installing T-track on my bench.

Question for Forster Co-Ax press owners

My Co-Ax has the short handle and all you need is 6.5" of bench space for the handle to clear. So with 13" of bench space you will be fine. BTW, I've used the long handle and switched to the short handle when I found out the long throw and extra leverage definitely was not needed. Not even...

    Ultrasonic solution for brass

Now put those cases in a tumbler with walnut or corncob media for an hour or so and they will really shine. The Lemishine alone doesn't make them shine but they are really clean.

    Ultrasonic solution for brass

I agree. I like very clean brass but it is just too much trouble to use the pins. Not to mention the damage pins do to the brass and some may get stuck in the brass...IMO. Lemishine in an ultrasonic cleaner, then into walnut media will make the brass as clean as I would want. If I want it to...

    Ultrasonic solution for brass

Use the power booster. You'll find it in the dishwasher detergent (Cascade, etc) section of a grocery store.

    Ultrasonic solution for brass

Maybe 1/2 teaspoon to 1 gallon. It's not critical.

    Ultrasonic solution for brass

Too much Lemishine OR leaving brass in the solution too long will cause this discoloration.

    Ultrasonic solution for brass

Add Lemishine at the rate of 1/2 teaspoon per quart of water. Dawn adds to the cleaning or, what I use, Armor All Wash & Wax. Leave in solution no longer than 45-60 mins. Otherwise your brass will turn pink. The Lemishine helps get a lot of the carbon out.
