Valid points regarding the BR. My thing with the hornady 75 bthp is who knows if those are going to shoot will either. Hornadys seem to be hit or miss. 77 smk is tried and true but more money and as you said don't have a great bc. To me that's where the 80 smk comes in. It's only slightly more...
Yeah I need to get my hands on some. I shot an AT years ago with the standard stock configuration but don't remember much about it. I think I'm still leaning towards thumbhole. Can always add the AX stock if I really want to. That AT LE in the PX was damn sexy and got me thinkin.
I prefer the regular AT front end as opposed to the AX. I don't really need all the attachment points. Also don't really like the more comp style chassis of the ATXC. I think a gun store by me usually has a few AI's maybe I'll go take a look.
From what I can tell the AX stock on an AT would line up in right about the same spot. I'd probably have to run the high action rail on an AT for the cheek weld to be right. Not sure if that's still lower than the AX rail.
That is helpful. Rear bag placement is something that I was keeping in mind. Looks to be limited space on the standard AT. I have a family member I could probably get an actual AT LE from so I was considering it. Or just picked up a used fixed stock AT and do a conversion.
I've never used a buttplate with adjustable cant or height and I don't really think it would wow me. Comb height and length of pull is enough for me. I also prefer the simple forend of the AT, I don't need all the rail space of an AX.
Who has experience with the AT in both thumbhole and AX stock configuration? I like the classic look with the thumbhole skins but something about the AT LE configuration attracts me. Not sure if I really need the extra adjustability and more fasteners of the AX stock though.
The berger 80.5 bc is .441 and the sierra 80 smk is actually. 461. I believe it used to be .420 and they up rated it when they started pointing them. The bergers I can never find in stock so that doesn't do me any good. Unfortunately I was not able to try out the sierras today.
I went 1:7 because that's what the gunsmith had on hand. Glad I did because I see no reason not to for shooting 75gr + bullets exclusively. I'm hoping to get to the range tomorrow to try the sierra 80 smk through my bartlein. I know the 77s shoot lights out. Your groups with the 75 eldm pretty...
