How many loads out of a 260 Rem. R-P case?

I did the same type test with Winchester brand .243 brass, in a .243 Ackley. I took five cases and loaded them over and over. I think my load was 47.5 grns of H-1000. I full length sized after every shot but never annealed the necks. I was using Fed GM match primers. After 25 loadings the...

Id this Remmy 260 for me please

It is a straight up plastic stock. I own one in 7mm-08, bedded it with acraglass resin/gel and added metal flakes. It hasn't come apart and that was probably fifteen years ago. You will not find a more comfortable tree stand rifle, works great for walking/stalking, too. Even with a scope...

    Gunsmithing Bandsaw blade question

I use a metal cutting bandsaw for cutting all of my cutlery steel. I belive my blades are 18 tpi, run as slow as your saw will run. I cut D2, A-2, 0-1, 440, 52100, S-7....all types, as long as they are annealed. Save yourself a big headache and by the best quality blades you can find. I know...

load workup - new brass vs FL sized

I just resize the neck to remove any dings them chamfer and deburr. I use a neck die if I have one, or back a FL die backed out so that the neck at least goes over the expander button. I know a guy that dosen't do a single thing to new brass other than load it....and it shoots nasty little...

    Gunsmithing 260 AI feeding questions

Have you measured one of the fireformed cases(from the shoulder) then sized it as much as the die/press will allow? Now check to see if you are moving the shouler back. If it shows no set back you may have to shave the base of the die. I had this same thing happen when I necked 308 Lake...

    anyone loading .260 with 3031?

This is not exactly what you asked, but may help. I have loaded a 7mm-08 (140 grn) with IMR 3031, it worked great in a 20" barrel and gave good velocities. I can't remember the exact charge. Best I can remember it was in the 2850 to 2900 fps range. I believe PO Ackley listed some loads with...

    Solid copper bullets

The one thing they have over lead bullets is penetration. They stay together better and generally penetrate deeper. For general use the positives probably don't outweigh the cost. Solid copper bullets are used in premium hunting loads, glass penetration rounds, and in larger calibers like 338...

    Solid copper bullets

He probably means that is the first one that stayed in the animal. I'd say cost would be a big factor, at least it would be for me. Accuracy wise they generally shoot very well. I've tested the barnes (.224's) on deer sized game, and never recovered one either. They will shoot through both...

Gunsmithing Which Product Works Best to Remove Copper Fouling?

Wipe Out foam and let it work a couple hours. I only use patches and jag, rarely ever use a brush...if I do it is nylon.* I'll use Iosso paste to remove carbon and to polish throat area, only after 250-300 rounds.

    243 Ackley improved reloading

You will have to measure one of the fired cases to determine which version you have. Hopefully it was chambered with a reamer that matches a set that Redding makes. I had to send five fired cases to Redding to find out they didn't make a set that would "fully" full length size my brass. Mine...

    260 ackley loads

I tried 4831 sc, can't remember why but switched to H4350. I may not have been getting the velocity I was looking for with the 4831. Both powders should work just fine. What stock did you put it in?

    260 ackley loads

    How is it working out?

    260 ackley loads

Yeah, its been a while since I had to fireform brass. If things get worse with the brass and powder supply I'll give it a try too. Hell, I can't even find Winchester brand 243 brass....

    260 ackley loads

I don't use the cream of wheat, poly fill, wax, or backward facing bullets method of fireforming. I just load and shoot and they are almost as accurate as the formed loads. Way easier than most people think.
