    Hearing protection

Highest noise reduction is the lowly foam plug. Howard Leight Max is rated at 33dB NRR. Custom plugs work the day you fit them, but then, as your hydration level changes, the fit changes, and thus the NRR. The foam plugs adjust to changes in your ear canal. Doubling up, plugs and muffs...

    S&W M&P 15-22 SAFETY RECALL

I talked to S&W rep at the Great American Outdoors Show. His comment was that the Appleseed rifles that had issues were not stock. And obviously so. He would not comment further.

    Rifle Scopes $2,000 scope. WHY?!

And the answer FOR YOU might be that it offers nothing. But I would say that while the better glass/optics is great, the better tracking, better reticle, zero stop, and such are some of the real benefits over the cheap scopes.

    Help with powder option?

If you mail order powder, realize that there is a HazMat fee of around $25 PER PACKAGE. So if you buy 1 pound, you pay that fee. If you buy 10 pounds, you pay the same fee. So, in general, if you buy online, buy a reasonable quantity. Also, these days, it is better to buy more when you find...

Suppressors Supersonic rounds through suppressed rifle, hearing safe? Do you wear ear pro?

If you get minor discomfort, you have already caused some damage. A quick and easy way to test for threshold shift is, when you arrive at the range, set your radio to as low of a volume that you can hear. When you get done, see how much you have to turn it up to hear it. Any threshold shift...

    Gunsmithing Beginners Mill/ Lathe

The Federal law has not limits of the numbers you can make. Of course, if you make a LOT, you might have to explain why and where they all are. :) You can sell them, but cannot make them to sell. And yes, there is a different FFL needed to manufacture firearms. IIRC it is an 07 license.

Long range Remington 700 AAC-SD .308 owners / reloaders , on 1000 yard quest. your load

The 175 SMK is not affected much by the transonic transition. That IS a problem with the 168 SMKs. But totally different bullet design, mainly having to do with the boat tail angle and length.

    Half baked barrel cooling idea

The heat will transfer pretty quickly from the inside to the outside. It is called thermal conductivity. SS barrels will not be as good in this respect as a carbon steel barrel will. SS has lower thermal conductivity.
