I would look around for an older remington 700 in 243. In my opinion the actions were better built and smoother on the older ones.

I am sure I am in the minority here but I use a Vortex PST 4-16 on my .243. It has worked great for me the last couple seasons. I use wicked lights attached to mine and have taken hogs and coyotes at night and have shot coyotes out to 450 and steel out to 800.
