Like was said they were relativly cheap and ultra dependable years back. They were chambered in a great hunting round but they are a tank when it comes to weight and scope mounting was not easy or practical. This is one of the better attempts of sporterizing an M1 I've seen but it's still...
My personal opinion is that one is better off with a hand held flashlight over a weapons mounted light, or both. The hand held you do not have to be pointing the gun at everything you want to look at.
For a carry gun what holster are you going to put a gun in with a light sticking that far out in front of it? Good luck finding a holster for anything except a Streamilght TLR-/2 or one model of SureFisre (I forget the model number)
The G33's glass is crystal clear and built like a rock! The mount is also rock solid and both can take a beating. The cheap ones are cheap glass, cheap mounts and fragile. Buy once and cry once!
You start a match with a clean barrel? I clean mine every couple hundred rounds. My FNA3G bolt gun has around 300 shots through it and I've never touched the inside of the bore and it keeps shooting better and better.
Civilian Marksmanship Program - Promoting firearms safety training! Just thought you guys might be interested, they say they acquired a couple of these and I'm sure they will all go on auction. Any guesses as to what it will end up going for?
Any way you cut it $15,000 for a rifle system like this is a waste of taxpayer money! I want our guys to have the best but there is no need for them to have the best and then adding $10,000 of stuff for no good reason. This is right up there with a $500 toilet seat.
I have the same issue with my Savage 10ML muzzle loader, the little POS silver "lever" in the trigger won't pull back. Since it's a single shot I just check that the silver thing moves and if it doesn't I just re-cock the bolt. If I was serious about this rifle I would replace the POS...
I'm pretty sure Winchester didn't make short actions until the mid 80's. I had a NIB M70 308 match rifle from the 70's that was built on a long action.
Let me start off by saying I love a nice bolt action rifle and I'm not ripping on them. But why are they still being used for sniper rifles in the military? I understand for the bigger calibers but in a 308 why? IF an AR10 platform rifle will shoot 1/4" groups why wouldn't you want the added...
Triad, I agree with you about them being personal and while I would gladly buy one for him you're correct that he should pick it out. I gave him a Beretta M92 after finding out that his total training with his issue one was 30 minutes of dry firing and on magazine of live fire! I'm just...
I posted this in the equipment forum also but thought it might be a good idea to put it in the handgun section also. My nephew is being deployed to Afganistahn this fall and needs a shoulder holster rig to carry a M92F. He's a pilot and is required to carry a weapon at all times...
My nephew is being deployed to Afganistahn this fall and needs a shoulder holster rig to carry a M92F. He's a pilot and is required to carry a weapon at all times. Concealment is not required, or even desired, for this rig. Does anyone have any suggestions for a QUALITY shoulder rig that...
