At least you have the rifle option. Illinois is stuck with either a shotgun, pistol, or muzzleloader. I may be wrong but Indiana just started to allow hunting with suppressors too didnt they? Indiana cant be all bad.
My vote goes to CMMG or Smith and Wesson. Either one would be a good shooter. There always the option to build too. Mega Arms is a great starting point for 308 builds and Palmetto State Armory is supposed to be coming out with 308 receiver sets.

Personally I thought the movie was great. The armorers did a great job with all the kits, correct optics/reticles. The stunt work during the fall down the mountain was pretty awesome. I feel the movie did a pretty good job of showing what those guys went through. I agree too, that I've never...
Given any thoughts to the Vepr rifles? they can be had from 7-800 in 223, 308, and x54R. Super Veprs even have a longer fluted barrel. They use heavy rpk receivers and heavy barrels. Throw on a Parabellum ARAK top cover and scope of your choice.
Found a used Waffen Werks AK74, jams 2-3 out of every circle-10 mag I have. Came with tapco mags too but havent even tried those. It almost seems like the tolerances are too tight on it, the receiver wont let the back of the mag seat properly. Seems like everyone else that has a WW rifle...
I live in Southern Illinois and I've never seen anything like that in small game, (knock on wood) but Ive seen the ones in the nasal passages of deer. Pretty nasty looking little buggers but the meat was still fine.
