    NRL22 Comps?

I was in pretty much the same boat. Got frustrated and drove to an event 3.5 hours away for my first NRL22 match yesterday. Good news is that several of the participants knew of other small clubs that hold events closer to my location! Seems that many of the smaller clubs either don't...

    Weird .22lr drop at distance

billmeek: I've tried playing with the bc in Strelock pro, but adjusting the BC to center the group at my confirmed 15.6 mills doesn't work. I end up shooting high everywhere else. Weird. Oh well...I can still use the RWS for positional drills. I can't hold better than it delivers slung up...

    Weird .22lr drop at distance

hlee, Yeah I totally get that real world data won't match up exactly to a computer generated prediction. I just don't understand how the generated numbers line up within a few tenths of a mil out to 215, then the bullet drops an extra 15" more than we anticipated for that last 60 yards or so...

    Weird .22lr drop at distance

Hi, first time poster after a few years of lurking. Planning on shooting NRL22 "stock" division for 2020. I have a RPRr and running a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24. I believe this combo will be legal for that division. There is a club match fairly local next month, so I'm getting geared...

More practicool, and less tacticool. Saving money!

I've gone through the same progression myself. I've built alot of AR's over the last 10 years or so, and it is kind of fun to look back and see where I started. I've kept most of my uppers over the years and I can see how I've progressed, digressed, and came full circle a couple of times. I...

I wanted to show you my new rifle.

Tall bipods are also great when calling coyotes or similar predators. I like to sit, especially if it is cold and/or snow on the ground. Tall bipod allows me to do that, run the call and maximize my field of view in rolling hills or wherever I'm set up. Once you get comfortable with shooting...

Rifle Scopes $150 3-9 as a Temporary Stopgap?

I second (or third, maybe even fourth) just waiting for the cash to buy a good piece of glass. Having said that, I have one of the Nikon p223 3x scopes and p223 mounts that I won at a shoot. It sat around for quite a while until my 12 year old brother wanted to build an AR. Slapped a...

Mauser sporterized to 30-06, can I update?

Actually those Shepard scopes are pretty decent pieces. They do tend to be more fragile compared to "tactical" scopes we are used to encountering today, but they are fine on hunting rigs. Its really easy to see if you have lost zero by taking a shot at a target, adjusting the large dials...

Average weight of a complete 308AR with scope ?

My "hunting rig" weighs in at 10.5lbs unloaded....add another .5 to 1.5lbs depending on bipod used. my hunting 308AR: DPMS upper and lower 16" heavy contour barrel (DPMS) w/ A2 style flash hider Lancer carbine length carbon fiber FF Timney 3# trigger MFT BULS stock w/ bore snake & bottle of...

    Del-Ton mid length kit

I bought the 18" middy 1:7 chrome lined Delton kits a while back. It is currently matched up with a Stag lower and wears an MOE hand guard. I was a little put off by the low price, but it has proven to be a nice shooter. The trigger group sent with the rifle yielded a 9.5# pull, so that got...

    Service Rifle vs. SPR profile

Good call on the Nosler. I've shot a couple thousand of the 77gr bthp with fantastic luck. I weight sorted a couple hundred just for giggles and they all fell within +/- .1gr of 77. Think they are a little optimistic with the claimed .340 BC, but what company isn't? This is definitely one of...

Stock Choice for 18" 5.56mm build

The Mission First Battlelink stock that WxWatcher recommended is a good stock. One of my .308's wears a MFT BULS low profile stock and I love it. Locks up really tight and offers a good cheek weld. The A1 stock is also a good recommendation, Cav Arms fixed stocks can usually be found on the...

    Magtech/CBC 168gr. HPBT

I've fired 300 or rounds of this through a couple .308's. Good stuff and its available. The brass is nice and uniform, on 3 or 4 reloads with some of it. I've found it to be 1.5 MOA or better across a couple different platforms. I wouldn't hesitate to stock up if I could find a case of them...

anyone tried one of the new high rate of fire triggers?

My wife got an opportunity to try out one of these triggers this last week. She couldn't remember the manufacturer, but a gun dealer in western Nebraska (Ellsworth, Ne) put on a demonstration in the pasture behind his shop. I imagine it was Tac Con, based on the description and price that was...

    Gain twist

I had a 260 Rem Improved barrel (Bartlein or Benchmark...can't remember now) with a gain twist. They called it their "T" twist for "transitional." It was something mild, like 9 or 8.5 to 8 twist. Kevin Rayhill suggested I give it a try. It was on my F-class/LV 600 IBS rig a few years ago...
