I was doing so research and I read that using a aluminum rail with steel rings is a bad idea, as the thermo expansion of the rail and rings will be at a different rate.
Anybody have any experience with a Vortex Viper PST II 5-25x50 FFP? Most specifically has anyone had issues with the elevation turret breaking? Also how is the tracking and return to zero with this scope?
Just like some feedback from any users of this scope. I am currently shooting a Savage 10 FCP-K in .308 with a SS 10-40 scope. I shoot mostly between 300 to 600 yards. I have a chance to pick up a Golden Eagle at a good price. How desirable are these Golden Eagle scopes in F class ?
Wow what a great wealth of advice and knowledge! At this point it looks like the store where the 168 SMK's were purchased is willing to exchange them for 175 SMK's. Also I have to agree that until my skills are to the point that my equipment becomes the factor that limits my progress. I will be...

Need some recommendations for a good scope for shooting .308 FT/R class. My max budget is $600.00 I currently have a 10x mildot SS scope. Most of the shooting I will be doing is mid range stuff (300 to 600 yrds) as we have no 1000 yrd ranges in my area.
I see you say that 168 gr MK's are no good for 1000 yards. But how's about for 600 yards? My limited experience at 600 yards seems to show that the 168 gr MK's seem OK at 600 yards, but I would like your opinion. Thanks
