Re: stainless barrel in cold weather... There are facts and then there are ancedotes. For example - Fact: 416R stainless steel is more brittle than 4140 or 4150 CM steel and will be much more prone to fail in a lightweight barrel firing a very high pressure cartridge at ambient temperatures...
