    How old is your Kestrel?

I have the old model from before the current elite was launched. It still works fine but I almost also use strelok for ease and speed of use instead.

Best Budget/Value Spotting Scope for 600+ Yards?

The Bushnell tactical spotter is great value. I’ve been happy with mine and I’m more comfortable spotting with it compared to lower powered binos.

    Muzzle brake issue?

The shims bothered me for about 10 minutes. Then I forgot all about em and the brake has worked with out issues. And to be clear this gap is because the threads on the barrel are cut longer than the brake manufacturer specs. It's no one's fault but my own since my smith didn't know what...

    Muzzle brake issue?

Where does your brake bottom out with out the jam? Did you have to loosen up the brake about a full turn to time it? If so that would explain the gap which sounds like 1mm or so. On my timed brake (with 5 ports and welds, and a jam not that doesn't reflex over the brake body, IE likely the...

Magazine Loader 6.5 Creedmoor MDT Metal AICS Magazine

MDT makes a mag loader that works great. Because the mags are DSSF the loader is more like a pistol mag loader than one of those AR mag loaders.

    VV powders & temp stability

200+ rounds on a range day. And temperature are typically 80-90F year round here in Florida compounding barrel cooling.

    VV powders & temp stability

I avoid the 5 series powders in anything high volume due to the extra heat and throat erroision. Even in some lower volume magnum stuff shooting the 500's are still a challenge to keep barrel temperatures reasonable.

Precision Rifle Gear Chad vs Botnia

I own a Chad and shot a Botnia Maxi. Both were on a 6 Dasher and I’d need more back to back time to tell a difference. They are both extremely effective. The blast of the Chad isn’t bad for the shooter, but I always double up on ear pro when using a brake. The comment an earlier post made...

Accuracy International- 300 WSM - 178 ELDX - Load Data

More bearing surface would be one potential factor. That means more bullet that must be deformed by the lands to be pushed down the barrel and can lead to more pressure. I'm sure there are other factors as well but that's one potential.

Gunsmithing What are you guys using now days to clean and lube?

Thorroclean for barrels. For lube any just about any grass or oil seems to do the same job.
