    VV powders & temp stability

200+ rounds on a range day. And temperature are typically 80-90F year round here in Florida compounding barrel cooling.

    VV powders & temp stability

I avoid the 5 series powders in anything high volume due to the extra heat and throat erroision. Even in some lower volume magnum stuff shooting the 500's are still a challenge to keep barrel temperatures reasonable.

Precision Rifle Gear Chad vs Botnia

I own a Chad and shot a Botnia Maxi. Both were on a 6 Dasher and I’d need more back to back time to tell a difference. They are both extremely effective. The blast of the Chad isn’t bad for the shooter, but I always double up on ear pro when using a brake. The comment an earlier post made...

Accuracy International- 300 WSM - 178 ELDX - Load Data

More bearing surface would be one potential factor. That means more bullet that must be deformed by the lands to be pushed down the barrel and can lead to more pressure. I'm sure there are other factors as well but that's one potential.

Gunsmithing What are you guys using now days to clean and lube?

Thorroclean for barrels. For lube any just about any grass or oil seems to do the same job.

    6mm Dasher

    Agree, that was my same question. I broke in a 26" Krieger last weekend; Lapua 2x fired brass Varget 105gr Hybrid CCI450 these were shots 101 - 150: 31.3gr: SD 6.1; 2873 31.4: 2.9; 2874 31.5: 7.7; 2884 31.6: 5.6; 2894 31.7: 6.7; 2901 31.8: 7.3; 2907 31.9: 4.6; 2911 32.0: 4.1; 2921 32.1...

Suppressors Baffle erosion DT vs brake

My real world experience reflects exactly this. On a bolt gun there's no difference. Barrel length, high quality powder and burn rates optimized for the cartridge ensure it's burned into gas and not blasting tiny grains into your suppressor. And a slower rates of fire keep materials cool and...

    Epoxy Reloading Tables

Looks great. I'd leave it glossy. If it gets scratched up later you can always sand if to be matte. I poured total boat epoxy on my garage workbench and my handy work is crude compared to that. The first time I tried most of the epoxy ended up on the floor. The second attempt was...

    Questions on 25GT

I'd also recommend trying your current seater first. You might find the die you have already works. For reference, I seat long 22 rounds with a 6mm seater and never had an issue. I wouldn't be surprised if the 6mm GT seater worked for 25 GT. And my friend shooting 25 GT; I'm pretty sure he's...

    Official Accuracy International AT-X

The finish smooths out on AI rifles with the first 1K rounds for sure. The finish on the cocking ramp probably smooths out some as well helping bolt lift a tiny amount. Don't even need to use the 7-axis mill, after 1k down the pipe it's smoother. :p

Rifle Scopes LPVO or Red dot/magnifier for SBR

the ATACR is better than I thought it would be on an SBR. Balances well, the 1X eye box it's fairly forgiving, and the illumination is bright enough for all daylight conditions.

    6mm Dasher

I might also recommend trying a lighter load for a first firing with Petterson. I haven't shot any before but each 6 Dasher Petterson case I've seen looked like it may need a fair amount of firing forming. The neck-body junction is extremely round and maybe the shoulder needs to push out some...

    22BR Custom Build

I use .255" necks in my 22 BRA reamers which works well with both Lapua and Alpha brass which both measure .251" loaded.

    22 dasher build.

The short 22 Dasher build sounds like a fun project. I've been happy with the .255" neck but Ray's probably right and a .253" would work but be tight. However I like the extra little bit of clearance and .255" or even .254" would be my pick. The 85.5gr LRHT are also jump tolerant so maybe...

    22 dasher build.

I went with a 0.255" neck to avoid turning necks. Both Alpha and Lapua brass measure 0.251" loaded from memory. So the 0.255" neck works with either and avoids the need to turn necks. I've used Lapua before and the current brass I'm shooting is Alpha. With either brand I start with a 6 BR...
