It is fine to put steal rings on an aluminum base. Einstein is not as smart as he thinks he is. I use the Badger USMC rings on an aluminum rail and a S&B PMII 34mm tube. Very sturdy setup.
I think S&B justs wants to be ready for the 40MOA and higher bases. Better your first shot be low. I set mine like they said, shot paper at 50m and calculated the mrad adjustment to zero. Second shot was close enough to move to 100m for final zero. Then I reset the DT turret to zero.
Maybe you could use a visual analogy using a flashlight and a garden hose. Think of your barrel as a garden hose. Consider your bullet path as the water squirting from the end. Think of your scope as a flashlight Consider your scope adjustment area as the beam of the flashlight. If you...
I have a 6-24 pst on a .300 mag with a brake. Savage 110BA. The last time I was out shooting the POI drifted 3MOA withing 5 rounds of match ammo. I was so sick about it, I put it up and have not shot it since and that was 3 months ago. Looks like I need to sell the PST after it gets back from...
I my opinion as a scientist, the only way to develop loads is to take all other variables out of the equation or as many as possible. Like shooter, wind, temp. I would use a lead sled and shoot indoors and probably rig up a camera for the scope and a servo for the trigger. Once you get the best...
"what they could reasonably expect from a gas gun" This is more luck than typical for a semi auto 308 shooting factory ammo. Shoot 6 5-shot groups and avg to get the MOA of the system. Removes luck from the picture. Enter it in Elf's 300yd shootout and you will win top prize, or get shamed for...
I took about 1/8" off that adjustable cheek part to let the charging handle come all the way back when the cheek piece was up in position. I also put a charge handle side pull on. I believe it was from Badger. The PRS was the model made for the AR10.
I only looked at RRA for different rails. They had what I wanted so I didn't look aftermarket. This is using each GMM at 109yd. That first rnd was a little crazy.
I have the 26 varmint and have 6 fal inch and 6 RRA poly mags. The poly mags are not tight, but they don't gravity drop out. Someone on here recommended an area to remove some material on them but I have not tried it. The FAL inch mags work fine. When new, my chamber was about .0005" too...
Looks like fun, but the only semi auto guns I have with iron sights or red dots are 9mm, 45, and 22 pistols. Darn! How about if I turned my S&B scope down to 5X? You should start one of these for the 45 sidearm and go 7yd, 15yd, 25yd, and 50yd.
Do you think you might have hit a bug on the way to the target? I have always wondered what effect a nat, misquito, bee, june bug, or cicada would have on a small light round like the .223.
It looks like your groups are smaller than you think. Did you subtract your bullet diameter? It looks like your dial is on 2.972 at the outside to outside. Also, where is your rifle pic? I would like to check it out. I want to do this with my Rock River Varmint LAR-8 26 bull. Looks like fun!
I do not bore sight so I am unfamilar with how far that process can be off, but the group scattering sometimes could be your rifle looses level between shots and with the POA 17" from the POI, a slight tilt would result in way different POI. Turning the base 180 is not proff it is good. If...
