Have been a Hide member for quite some time and especially follow the optics forum. I find it a bit interesting that although the Hide is certainly made up of a majority of patriotic Americans I don't see much discussion of "Buy American". Lots on...
This is a model C527 NightForce NXS F2 (3.5-15x50) with a Mil-R reticle. Scope has 0.1 mil adjustments, Illumination and zero stop. In very good to excellant condition. Glass is flawless and pristine. No ring marks on tube but a couple of very faint scratches on the underside of the...
Thanks, I got that part but my question is where does it obtain the raw data to derive the yardage inputs. Obviously which gun selected is part of it as is also probably some currently available enviro data. But it has to get some ballistic data somewhere that it extrapolates into forming the El...
How does the range card derive the data to populate the various range increments? Specifically, if I use my linked terrapin and laser a target at one range does the Range Card re-populate the incremental ranges using the data from that one episode of laser acquisition? Thanks in advance for...
The rope work in the Rifles Only High Angle is only with the special operations military groups that train here. We try to keep the civilian classes firmly on the ground; but being in shape to haul your gear up and down game trails in the mountains is a requirement.
I have a very good condition NF FFP ATACR 5-25x56 mil-r with zero stop and illum that I wish to trade for a NF NXS 5.5-22x56 mil dot (Model C 244) with zero stop and illum. Am tired of the busy mil-r reticle and my three other rifles have NF mildot so looking for some consistancy. Also I am...
I have had the opportunity to work with a new Athlon product, their Cronus Tactical Spotting Scope that has a FFP reticle. This is a new straight thru scope in 7-42X60 using their top of the line Cronus ED glass. Is right at 14 inches long and weighs...
I have compared the Cronus 20-60 with the Athlon Ares 15-45 x 65 with the ED glass. Our range runs out to 1600 mountainous yards and quite honestly I preferred the Ares as its compact and light. Seeing impacts on steel at 1550 were easy with either. The newer tactical has a reticle which the...
I would say one of the big differences is the tactical bent of the Athlon reticle. You wanna range with a H32 you do the math. Height of Target (inches) X 27.8 -/- Mils Subtended = range to target (yards). The stadia of the Athlon circumvents that. Scopes and spotters with the Horus...
This will be my goto for sure. Since I have only had it for a few days I obviously cannot speak to durability, but it is compact and seems very sturdy with lens caps for both ends and has multi coated lenses with very good light transmission and is waterproof.
