Re: New stock better than Rem 5R stock, similar cost I bought a 5r take off for my SPS Tactical for $200 shipped. Just my opinion gut here is the ranking 1. McMillian 2. Manners 3. HS Precision 4. B&C
Re: bedding a 700 tactical with a Hogue stock The problem with the Hogue is using it with a bipod the forearm flexes enough to make contact with the barrel, a no no. I used fiberglass fabric and mixed resin to fill the voids. It really helped but I ended up buying a 5r take off by HS...
Re: Introductions, first precision rifle (Rem 700 SPS) Looks like a good start. Nice groups for your first time out. Check out the FAQs on this forum for some good basics. I have heard alot of good things about the scope you are using. I shot mine today moving out to 300 yds. Talk about...
Re: Jewell versus Timney for Remington 700? Got it installed in about 45 minutes. Would have been quicker if I had paid attenton on how the spring for the bolt release went. I finally figured it out by looking for the shinny points that contact the release bar. Made a world of difference...
Re: noob to bolt guns, need help I have the std SPS Tactical with X-Mark Pro trigger and just changed it out with a Timney. I tried to adjust the pull but could never get it down to what I wanted. The Timney is much better IMHO. Also bought a 5r HSP "take off" from a member here. Seems...
Re: Introductions, first precision rifle (Rem 700 SPS) The issue on the Hogue overmold is that it flexes somwhat especialy when using a bipod. I took some fiberglass maerial and cut it to the size of the "compartments" in the forend, then filled it with fiberglass resin. It did stiffen up...
Re: Introductions, first precision rifle (Rem 700 SPS) Welcome, did the same thing. Bought the same gun to build a LR rifle (308 ?). So far I have added a HS Precision stock, Nikon Monarch 5-20 Warne rings and Burris mounts, harris bipod. This weekend installed a Timney trigger.
Re: Jewell versus Timney for Remington 700? Just recieved m Timney in the mail today. I m impressed with it seems much nicer than the X Mark. Any tips to installation?
Re: Jewell versus Timney for Remington 700? I have a Timney in a rebarreled Mauser that had a 2 stage military trigger. It made a huge improvement. I have a Timeny on order from Botach. Sells for $120 delivered no sales tax or shipping. If you need the safety with bolt release it will be...
Re: stock on remmy milspec 5R This is a 5r take off with a SPS Tactical in .308, it has a palm swell but not too large. I paid $200 delivered. From what I read, the LTR has a shorter stock.

Re: Does Rem 700SPS Tac Shoot Well?.....HELL YES I took the Hogue and filled in the cavities on the forend with fiberglass. It did stifen it up but went ahead and bought the HS take off. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa240/zeme05/rem5-22-22007.jpg
