    New wood for the L1A1

That takes me back. The grease-covered spare rifles in our unit's cage at the main camp armoury had their original wood with triangular fore-end. The issued rifles either had a wood-plastic mixture or all-plastic furniture.

    Worth restoring?

Nice rifle. You are missing a CLEARING rod. Armies started replacing cleaning rods with clearing rods in the 1890s via revised production specifications and in-service updates. Pull throughs made of braided line or steel chain became the standard for regular barrel cleaning. NCOs were supplied...

    Parker Hale T4

The 155 grain bullets should do well, subject to barrel dimensions and condition. Experimentation will determine how quickly you need to drive them to ensure full obturation and reliable down range performance, due to their relatively short shanks. In regard to British rules … local NRA shooters...

    Parker Hale T4

The Parker Hale 7.62mm hammer forged barrels are considered by our local NZNRA shooters, to be good out to 800 yards. Glass bedding of the receiver to fore-end interface—where allowed—has proven greatly beneficial, according to my friend Duncan MacKee, husband of government minister, the...

What would be a good modern functional scope for a m1903a3

The Leupold M8 4x that was discontinued circa 1989-90 has a 28mm objective lens and 3.6x magnification. True eye relief of that scope is approximately 3.6 inches. It was popular on Parker Hale conversions of the SMLE No.1 Mk III and rifles with similar backsight setups.

    New Projects

That sporterised No. 4 appears to have a Sile stock. They were waterproofed via the Morse process i.e., lowering them into glycol, to drive out all the moisture. Looking forward to seeing the project updates.
