    Parker Hale T4

According to p. 526 (pertaining to the L42A1) of The Lee Enfield: A Century of Lee-Metford & Lee-Enfield Rifles & Carbines, by Ian Skennerton, pub. 2007; ‘the bolthead is marked ‘19 T’ which indicates a pressure of 19 tons per sq. in. for the 7.62mm re-proofing.’ N.B. Nineteen (19) Imperial...

    Worth restoring?

Nice rifle. You are missing a CLEARING rod. Armies started replacing cleaning rods with clearing rods in the 1890s via revised production specifications and in-service updates. Pull throughs made of braided line or steel chain became the standard for regular barrel cleaning. NCOs were supplied...

    Parker Hale T4

The 155 grain bullets should do well, subject to barrel dimensions and condition. Experimentation will determine how quickly you need to drive them to ensure full obturation and reliable down range performance, due to their relatively short shanks. In regard to British rules … local NRA shooters...

    Parker Hale T4

The Parker Hale 7.62mm hammer forged barrels are considered by our local NZNRA shooters, to be good out to 800 yards. Glass bedding of the receiver to fore-end interface—where allowed—has proven greatly beneficial, according to my friend Duncan MacKee, husband of government minister, the...

What would be a good modern functional scope for a m1903a3

The Leupold M8 4x that was discontinued circa 1989-90 has a 28mm objective lens and 3.6x magnification. True eye relief of that scope is approximately 3.6 inches. It was popular on Parker Hale conversions of the SMLE No.1 Mk III and rifles with similar backsight setups.

    New Projects

That sporterised No. 4 appears to have a Sile stock. They were waterproofed via the Morse process i.e., lowering them into glycol, to drive out all the moisture. Looking forward to seeing the project updates.

Tikka T1x not extracting fired cases

This is why .. I have always saved fired cases from my competition .22 rimfire rifles for dry-firing practice. I started doing that when I got into 25m indoor shooting in the mid to late '80s. I do the same for every new acquisition .22 rimfire.

Tikka T1x not extracting fired cases

    1. Check the case rim diameter of all three types that you are using. Winchester and Eley tend to have larger rim diameters than brands such as Lapua. At the least, you can identify OR eliminate a possible cause of failure. I identified this factor during my ownership of an original Browning T...

    Quantico T48 Trial Rifles

Thank you. The first rifle I used was an issued S.L.R L1A1. You can dial the windage exactly, using the opposing screws on the receiver sight. The tipping breech-block and breech-block carrier arrangement is, complete with ‘sand cuts’, more resistant to dirt than a—breech—bolt and bolt-carrier...

    Valmet m76 with Swarovski

That would be, essentially, the same optical system that is built into a standard Steyr AUG. I presume that it has finer adjustments than the ludicrous 50mm @100m for the AUG version. Cheers from NZ🇳🇿.

    Vintage Sniper Christmas Advent Calendar

The trigger is only part of the problem with the Steyr AUG. The return spring has a hook on the end which attaches to the partial collar that, in turn, stops the bolt from rotating when out of battery. That hook can break without warning, after several hundreds of rounds. The weapon is then...

    Vintage Sniper Christmas Advent Calendar

I knew a guy who was about 5"6" and got bored with bow hunting. He went back to rifle hunting and bought himself an R93 UIT in order to go bush and tops hunting! Each to their own.
