I know my budget figure may limit me some. This would be for range " enjoyment " , not competition and certainly not hunting. Most interested in a factory gun as opposed to building. Thinking 6.5 Creed. Thanks.

If your budget is that tight I would just shoot your 7 twist 223 with some 75+ grain bullets first since it seems to just be
Indeed, I`ve had that thought. My Model 12 LRPV shoots great at 500 yards and functions flawlessly. I don`t doubt that it`ll carry to 1K yards. That`s probably what I`ll end up doing, at least initially. I do appreciate the input, however. If your budget is that tight I would just shoot your 7 twist 223 with some 75+ grain bullets first since it seems to just be for casual plinking
One more piece of input on the subject, I’ve shot decent at 1k with my 16” 7 twist 223 and a 75 eld at 2800 so it’s definitely possible with your longer barrel and a hundred more fpsIndeed, I`ve had that thought. When I first got into fun target shooting 5 or 6 years ago I didn't want to spend alot of money not knowing if it was something i would stick with. I bought a Savage 10 FCP in 6.5CM. It was $550 with a $100 mail in rebate. I then bought a discontinued model Vortex Viper 6x24 with a free set of rings at Cabelas for $399. Local ranges offered 200 and 250 yds. Once i got decent at those, I ended up driving further to shoot longer. Other than common extraction issues that gun shoots the 140's and 147's great and I have taken it out to 1200 yds. For less than $1000 I had a very capable 1000 yd gun. For me, this was a great entry rifle.
