Ehh, I can see how some viewed your videos as negative towards Vudoo/Zermatt. Maybe you didn’t mean for it to come across that way, but I was surprised they would even continue to sell you actions as there was some misinformation posted (Vudoo mag video comes to mind) that threw some serious shade.

Glad to see things are going well. You’ve moved up from using a modified dremel for your extractor cuts from just a few years ago.

My stance on Vudoo mag still is the same. The main issues are the injection molds being worn out and quality control and managment of replacing those molds, tolerances are a wide band. What I said, "Made at a Rubbermaid recycling center." Just to be clear. This will be the last I'll discuss about previous problems as im looking forward to what I think will be a whole revamp in quality in the community.

Edited: Not going to waste time explaining and proving myself to folk.

"Throw a rock at a pack of dogs, the one that yelps is the one you've hit". My intentions are not to offend, but help others in our community

The handle is one of the locking lugs but not the only. Thiers a unique feature which will be mentioned upon release.

Nothing wrong with an Anchutz style system. Proven over the years. No need to over complicate what works nor do you need to worry about compromise in metal quality or outsource work to cut cost like others do...

Everything is made in the same facility, 🇺🇸 by small buisness

Early fall, or after my 44 affected Gouge-X clients get their replacement builds with these. I've been working 15+ hour days optimizing machining, making check gauges and having a assembly process for a single operation to make these. Also invested in a new DNX 2100 machine. Wire EDM machine burning extractors

Material stock piling. Barrels waiting for a good 22lr action.

I ain't twiddling my thumbs any longer relying of other manufacturers.. I am THE manufacturer

I'll always put you guys priority. Yall can switch if you like, its your investment. Plans are to have these ready to ship as barreled actions when I release. I don't want any more lead times, preorders ect. Much of the leadtime I have was contributed to manufacturers exceeding thier promise fulfillment dates hence starting a chain effect. Making my own products and focusing on just that product perfection will lower lead times or eliminate them. I don't want to worry about accessories. Our sister company DP Cerakote will take over and start stocking chassis, triggers, ect.

Yall are awesome and entrusted me to build your rifles. If it wasn't for yall, we wouldn't be where we are at and continuing to improve.

An email campaign will be sent out nearing release. An early order form to verify previous orders through our FFL and invoice system (made to many rifles to keep track lol) this will give a significant discount and opportunity to get the first available.

We have our sponsored shooters that will throughly test these before release. Given each one unique abilities and location, their blessings will help determine the release date or changes to be made. As of right now, I'm one month ahead of schedule and didn't anticipate having the action bodys already in pre production. These are straight off the CNC before heat treatment and DLC coating. FB accusations are going nuts over "tooling marks and burs" lol. Certifiable machinist among many behind the keyboard

The video I posted was a testimony of its smoothness right off the cnc without deburing process and DLC, which only make it better

I've already re verifed fitment and compatibility with the top trigger manufacturers, chassis, bottom metals and AICS 22lr mags

Leadtimes will not be as long and aiming to not have any if much at all. As DPG is making these. No need to order actions, modify or fix others issues anymore

I've traded my hobby and what I thought was expensive tools (prs shooting) competition.... I've been dragged into buying machinery and not doing much shooting lately. Good thing is we'll be more involved at matches and events and be happy to give away rifles.
We are giving away custom CZ457 rifle for this match from todays canceled build.

Itll look like this
View attachment 8682921

It'll be ready to transfer at the match. Thank you for understanding. 👍

I hold no grudges if mutual respect is given.

Hey Dom!

Its got a 11mm Dovetail that gives folks the many options to choose thier favorite CZ457 scope base

View attachment 8683790

I prefer the MDT bases to keep the scope to bore axis low. Configured with a 30 MOA MDT scope base, it's only 0.075" higher than the other 700 clones
When this goes live, we'll have the option to choose.

The 11mm dovetail was chosen also because of the request from Chris Cawthrone from NASSA (North American Silhouette Shooting Association) and the community there needing an alternative small bore silhouette rifle. Where weight matters, the preference is 11mm scope rings. This also aids for those looking to setup a rimfire hunting rig as this action can accommodate 17 HMR/ 22 WSM

The screws on top are for a project working on to manufacturer my own stainless steel extended scope bases that not only clamp onto the dovetail, but also 8-40 screw down into the action, aiding for rigidity as these PRS rifles become heavier. Tendencies to pick up the rifle with the scope housing are common. My first choice was to integrate the rail into the action, however, this inhibits the ability to make these action bodies all in 1 operation. Keeping the action in tolerance with my machines ability. I would have to reset up the action multiple times to cut those rails, further tolerance stacking as well as start with larger stock material, further driving cost up and machine time.

Im open to any suggestions, hence why im conversing on this form. Cut me some slack on the commercial account thing, hold me to it when I actually have a product to promote and sell here. Im contributing what I can until then. I can use a little more in my pocket if I keep friction welding my endmills because I forgot to turn on the coolant
View attachment 8683792

Definitely available for exportation. Though our shop currently does not have ITAR exportation (expensive and to much paperwork) we do work with multiple companies like Bullet central, Borderview than can aid in exportation of any of the rifles we build.

You where only 4 months in and throughly knew about my leadtimes before ordering as I personally have discussed that with you via conversations. If you want to continue to publicly talk about this. I will exercise my privacy policy so folks can read both sides of the story that we had a private discussion
No need to be sour and continue deformation of my name and shop, if you feel your investment is being "used for my venture capital to make this action", your expirence is a perfect example that I have no problem refunding so you can feel secure about your investment elsewhere. No risk with our shop. We answer emails and calls right away, and you guys have no problem getting a hold of us to discuss any subject matters with your builds unlike other shops.

Folks let's stick to the topic of this post please. Any other request, concerns, im an email / call away.

Just finished up finalizing and testing the firing pin assembly.

Edited: also just got the Form 2 approval, time to burn serial numbers!

View attachment 8684809

@BillZ All components except accessories attached, Firing pin, springs, extractors will be DLC coated

60 degree bolt throw, technically prefittable due to a certain feature which allows to adjust out tolerances and action tennon threads are timed and mill turned

I will be allowing shops to build off these after taking a 2 day course. This is efforts to ensure the end client receiving the rifle will have the same quality and customer service we uphold. As well as lower leadtimes. Shops with advance machining capabilities that we will vet, will ensure tolerances are met, extractor cuts done right and will have access to use our barrels.

Yes, with a mtu barrel / sendero. I machine an Anchutz style 1/2x28 thread to keep the bore at the crown behind the threads and mitigate opening up

Family buisness. 3 employees directly for now. DP Cerakote, my son owns that now and runs that.
My family has been in aerospace manufacturing for 73 years. We have a fairly large shop in San Jose, CA that I occasionally will utilize for some rapid prototyping. Though I'll be manufacturering everything in our own shop. Just have that in my playing cards in case I ever need

Well one thing is certain, you won't find us dabbling into the 1911/2011 realm. To much well established competition there. We know how that turned out for one company in particular lol.

Through design and testing of these designs, continued perfection, investment in machining and eventually more employees. One machine and one person can built more than you think a day

You never know, maybe I'll have Randy come on here and explain...

I don't understand why you continue to have a dick measuring contest. Your Asian like me, except Im more beans than rice so Im sure to win like I did by 0.64 of a point at Usery X Match LOLOL RUB IT IN Click Here.. Are you still holding that grudge on me?. You can call me everything in the book you want, except a liar! I think I proven myself enough at this point.
Why continue to come on these forms, banter about me like your shiz don't stink? Like white on rice. It sucks to be so negative all the time looking at your replies to everyone here. Literally zero help to our community WTF Victor V... Disappointing summarizes what I can say after meeting you and now seeing this on the forms

Reading between the lines and sentences, let me emphasize on a few key points and what's behind the business curtain as well as boths sides here. The term "bashing" has been incorrectly used against me. For one, bashing a company means stating false claims, business practices or false statements about a product.. If you can find anything I said that was false, I welcome that notice and have no problem correcting as im not ego driven.
What folks don't see is the discussions I had 8+ months prior to even coming public about the situation with Zermatt. Look at my past videos, for 3+ years I have publicly and freely promoted the product over others. Build thousands of Rim-X rifles, left a good career at the Railroad and made a mistake building a company off someone else's product. With the issues not addressed for over 8 months, I was left with over $110K of rifle components unable to move because of this issue, nearly putting me out of buisness. So excuse me if I have a lil pepp in my walk and tone in my voice, I think its justified . As months went by with PR responses and total neglect, my clients became more impatient and had to make the moral decision. I have Zero to gain having addressed this publicly, infact it has costed my shop thousands. BUT, I had made the choice to become the voice for my clients. Because of my doing, a forced resolution and acknowledgement was made within weeks. Im glad to see folks get a resolution, even though till this day, 24 actions sit on my shelf with the same issue and no further support. Let this be a reminder of which shops decided to burry their head in thier profits and ignore the problem. I continue to receive emails and calls complaining how their gunsmith neglected this issue and till now, how do you think I acquired photos from other people with this issue???, actions are still being sold with this defect until inventory is moved out

Now with Vudoo, I've always gave credit to the main designer of the V22 action, Mike Bush. What I have stated in my videos, again, was the defect of whom ever built the rifles and the dozens of emails I still get to this day with testimony of the poor customer service and poor shooting rifles folks received from Vudoo. Nothing about the action! Come to find out Vudoo just outsourced everything and recent events is a testimony of how the company ran under its mismanagement and confirmation of the many who have/had issues. Said this to Pauls face with the dozens of complaint emails I printed out for him at SHOT 2023. Ive done nothing but perfect flaws on everyone elses products and of course im no exclusion to this, its all how its handled in the end and how you want to reflect on your clients.

Unlike others, I do not take in client provided parts because of the mass experience in fixing gun plumb rifles just to get a baseline to build off of. Finding filed down construction nails as trigger pins, ball point pen springs in lieu of proper factory tensioners, JB weld in places id never even thought was possible, Seized factory barrels on the action, pure neglect of maintenance, these are just some off top of my head. I cant even imagine the lead times If I allowed gunsmithing ontop of my work load currently

As for prefits, I could have easily entered that game, especially since I craft my own barrels and I'm not subject to barrel manufacture leadtimes any longer. I would actually make a killing doing so. I simply dont do it because I can confidently say I have no problem out performing any prefit out there and I choose to have my business name reflect my craftsmanship for those willing to wait. Not chase profit. Also I see to much tolerance variance despite the advertised ability to prefit. In today's time, folks expect instant gratification and product soon as they pay. I remember a time I waited 3 years for Bob Marvel to hand fit my custom 1911 before it was nighthawk customs.

Now this form was a recommendation and request of my clients to address the issues stated above. I have unfortunately came across the relentless defenders that do not have the time, experience and investment I do. Even admins who have zero buisness providing their biased opinions, even though they are not gunsmiths and clearly have an investment promoting/ defending and selling their favorite vendors products.

This form needs change, and it starts with the individuals who are emotionally driven and aimed to cause conflict, not resolution or help to others. If your vision is like mine and you want to seek positive change and rebuke companies taking advantage of thier consumers, sacrificing quality but still selling at high prices then your welcome to follow.

This project of mine was invoked as a solution I see needed for my clients. I did this in less than 3 weeks if you where following. From idea, draft, cad modeling and 3D prints over a year ago to now a near perfected production. 99% of the folks I talk to is what motivates me, that last 1% are the trolls that hang around to see my demise. That puts me into overdrive.

Those wondering why JD post and how I know him, I have had the opportunity to build a few rifles of his. He's to humble to talk about his shooting career but I will. He's actually one of the top PRS shooters in the nation and has been for the few years I got to build for him. He literally has the choice to pick whom ever for his rifles, I'm simply the monkey building them for him. Unlike some who claim to shoot competition, he has provided valuable feedback and insight to my builds. The fella genuinely cares for this sport and others to enjoy it and he's got the skillset to make a difference here. I'm just honored to be able to build for folk like him and Shane Ward

Just to be clear, many have had issues with their mags like I explained correct? Or their near forgotten metal mag they was suppose to release wouldn't have been a thought or patented.
The design works well and I have working V22 mags. So its not the mag itself, emphasis the mold. Taking measurements you can see the tolerances issues from a mag bought 1 day ago and one month ago.

What folks should be focusing on is why are you excepting this quality after paying 1500+ when yall hold me to a higher standard or fail to check these tolerances for yourself. My videos I put out, if your offended, is it because you seek justification of why You’ve spent 5K on your rifle build even when its having issues? Yet state Im bashing for sharing the issue many are having but also provide a solution??? Baffling....
Paul at one point did state they will no longer sell me V22 actions unless I remove those videos. Funny because I was told a year prior when those videos where out that it didn't effect them. Despite your opinion, it has helped many gain resolution with thier tools. And In the interest of my clients that have Vudoo builds at the time, I removed the videos (which is the last time I ever let a company restrict my freedom of speech as a consumer myself)

I have built ALOT of rifles, rarely will you hear the good side of things, but if one slips out of my shop, that's the one yall judge me and my capabilities.

The FTF issues as I shown with just the sample of 6 out of the 18 rifles I had during that video series was due to headspacing issues, which are bandaid by slapping in a 22 or 24lb spring. To this date, I always carry a set of field 22lr headspace gauges, and during a match folks that have issues that come to me, 90% of the time those rifles where locking down on a 0.051 headspace gauge

Thanks for all the updates....looks great!!!

I wouldn't expect anything less from you Kenny. When can we order? 😂
Come to Shane's range at Gravestone match June 14th. Rimfire qualifier. Ill have some of these rifles to give a try. If someone wants to run one for the match, hit me up. I believe ill have a side stage setup so folks can run it through the ringers and ask questions.
Here's the game plan:

Our sponsored shooters will be receiving the pre production model. Thier feedback or suggestions will set the pace when these start rolling into full production. Once in production

*Our current clients affected by the delay with the Rim-X are given first opportunity to switch over to get them caught up.

*Then our previous DPG family clients will then get first opportunity to purchase, an email campaign will be sent with a order form to fill out and verify pass purchases. They will receive a significant discount and first opportunity on early serial number barreled actions during this 2 week timeframe. I will have about a month of production barreled actions ready to ship (approximately 20-40).

*Final release to the public with inventory ready to ship early fall. If I allow pre-orders, they will have much shorter lead-times at 300$ non refundable deposits. This will gauge what investments are needed for production expansion, meaning more machinery, training and automation in cnc. Already have a DNX2100s being built and ready to drop into our shop. Will be investing nearly everything I have to ensure quality is kept, material is certified, top of the line tooling to improve overall quality in machining and production time. I have a game plan from seeing expansion success with my family's aerospace manufacturing. Which if all fails, I have access to the best machinery and tech to make production runs... itll be more traveling and overseeing, operating machines and less shooting unfortunately. I already have BBQ schedules for friends and family to help test these rifles before packaging lol as a trap for their time. Lots of Filipino food, karaoke, and ammo

I also will have a few shops after vetting and attending a 2 day course with me, have access to build off these actions and access to our barrels. We want to ensure quality standards are inline ASWELL as customer service we uphold. This will ensure the final product when received in the hands yall will have the same quality and support or better that my shop offers. It may sound snooty but this is an attempt to mitigate joe schmo gun plumber of 40 years with a worn out mill and lathe putting out crap to you guys. This will also give you folks opportunity to support your favor gun builder. Its not the best buisness model for profit, but its how I see quality is held up and our name

Sounds like you're gonna be busy.

Enjoy your soup! Post up your gunsmiths name so that if I ever find myself with $1800 to loan someone for 13 months for a toy that looks just like several others I own with questionable and subjective measurable performance differences, I’ll know to not engage with him!
Lester Bruno. Hopefully you've heard of him and his company Bruno Shooters Supply. Give you a little story, the only reason I know about Kenny and DP Gunworks is because for the last year our club has been getting wiped out with his rifle builds in small bore F Class. It started with a young man who brought his PRS rifle in and cleaned the first run, now the top 5 are always a DPG build. Here's me and my club buddy's sitting here with turbo actions, benchmark barrels watching this young man's ARA target get plugged, asked who built the rifle and saw DPGunworks and setting a club record.
Lester I've known for years and has helped my F Class game. We started watching Ken's videos and was amazed at the knowledge he shares. Lester has been building world class rifles for over 40 years, and when he said for me to go to Ken's shop to build this 22lr, that is a statement in my book. The only reason I didn't do so is because of my loyalty and promise I told Lester of being my only gunsmith.
With the Rim-X bolt issue we had, we contacted DP Gunworks and had a pleasant conversion with Mrs. Ashley. That women knows more about rifles than 90% of the folk here. Ran us though their findings and offered any support they can, No other shop in my 70+ years of life has given this dedication to customer service and speaking with Ken confirmed his dedication to the lord and this sport. The folks that continue to jump on this god awful form to disrespect this man should be ashamed of your selves. You folk don't know the talent this man has

Go back and read post 99 carefully. Read the middle paragraph out loud. Especially the sentence ending in “business.” Then think about the customers who have prepaid for their items for over a year who are back at the end of that line. Then go read the initial question I asked. You should be ashamed of yourself to not be able to separate a good gunsmith from a business at risk in your 70+ years of life. I have asked to not be brought back into this, and continue to wish you all well. Those who have your soup, or who are waiting on it. Or who have chosen to dine elsewhere.
He litterally said you were only 4 months in. You asked me who my gunsmith was. Your assumptions reflect your character and I think he made the right choice. YOU decided to comment on this post. YOU decided to keep bringing up your buisness. Move along pumpkin

So from thr jest of this thread....this is a highly upgraded version of a cz 457, or is there more to it? Is there something ground breaking and "new" that this recieve will do that hasn't been done or seen before?
From what I have gathered, I wouldn’t call it an upgraded 457 with extractors (and possibly the bolt lugs?).
It’s compatible with R700 triggers and chassis, right?

I am trying to follow along as closely as I can, but the constant injection of anal ache is off-putting. Which might be the intent. Regardless, I’m squirreling away nickels for a barreled action.

Good morning Gents!
As memorial day is just around the corner. Let's remember the sacrifices made to enjoy freedom like our hobby here. I think we should be able to find common ground and agree with one another that we love this hobby/sport.

Now, I'm not going to make accusations and stroke my own production about this action being better because of this, or that. I simply do not know and I am just taking a stab at offering another option from my experiences building custom 22lrs. As for this form and post, I'm needing your feedback to help mold a product with what the community is looking for. I'm extremely happy on how its turning out but I'm trying to remain unbiased to allow any improvement before final release. Just ran serial #1 at a local NRL22 match.

This being a 700 footprint, how much more can we improve upon it? That's the ambitious attempt I'm trying to make, but overall I'm relying on you folks to tell me. The action does have a similar operation like a CZ457/ Anschutz because of the bolt design lacking locking lugs. However their are 3 locking features that ensure a tight and consistent lockup with the Handle being the main one. The purpose of eliminating lugs is for gaining smoothness in the bolt feel. This also mitigates the need for difficult undercuts in the action using forming tools or a key seater to cut a locking lug channel and keeping headspace tolerance within 1 thou is the goal

1000002391.jpg

I added 3 features to this action that are aimed only to enhance the reliability of the action during competition use. Hidden in plain sight in some of the pictures I posted, Ill elude to more info as I'm securing a utility patent for them. One of the features is a rear bolt retention system. Allowing the shooter to have peace of mind when transitioning positions in PRS, the bolt will stay in the rear ward position until the shooter is ready to rack a round. It can be disabled by backing off the detent also

@Shootin25 I personally like the raw look. Im seeking ways to have a polished finish after heat treatment. If I can achieve a good luster polish without to much time, itll be an option. 17-4 ph after heat treating becomes a golden bronze look. Might be cool looking too. DLC coating will definitely be an option unless my tolerances are to tight, ill have to revert to QPQ Nitride. IMO I think Nitride is better as it penetrates the substrate of the metal, but DLC does add more smoothness and abrasive resistance. Ill also try Black Ice Coatings to see how it holds up

I’m a fan of the heat treat. I have a few silencers and muzzle devices that are heat treat and like the look. I always liked those untreated defiance actions too.

Even though I’m in the heart of Tuscany, enjoying some of the finest food and wine in the world, the updates back in AZ keep coming.

This action has been revised and ball milled to add a super cool feature with the bolt, and is literally riding on ball bearings. Smooth as silk.

Can’t update pics from here in the villa since we’re pretty remote but when I get to Florence tomorrow I’ll try to see if pics will load.

Hope y’all are having a great Memorial Day weekend, and raise a glass to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for us all.

When will these actions be available?

There is now a “notify when available” button on DPG’s website.

I’m on the list, Kenny!
Im ready for production. Got the first 5 rifles ready for T&E. Gravestone match will be the first public hands on.. The bolt head was the last small piece to the puzzle. Just got that dialed in today. These last little implications gave me a pretty high confidence that itll leave a solid first impression with anyone who handles it. All up to my pro shooters to give the thumbs up.

Only part I need to figure out to make in house eventually is the firing pin assembly. Im on the list with the great support @RAVAGE88 MB is giving to support our community. My machine can make the firing pin assembly, but its not proficient unlike a Swiss lathe. I have leads to a good used Tsugammi. But Im about to dropped cash on a Xyil X7 VMC to start making my own Rim-X AICS hybrid metal mags (7075-T6 top half and polymer bottom)

Watcha guys think about the Glass Bead Finish as an option???Just got these back from heat treat and bead blasting. This is basically the finish that's put on right before DLC.

Heat treatment made a difference in feel. Action has more of a metalic surgical sound and lock up. 42 HRC... should be hard enough to withstand gouging 😆

Are you thinking about offering nitride as a option also
I have a set currently getting nitrided. Best in the nation. I personally think nitride is slightly better for long term use as it penetrates the metal slightly, where as DLC is a top layer coating.

@Jagerwerks. Barreled actions will have the option of 22, 24 and 25.5" with 1.20 DPG barrels. 24" is our all around performer and recommendation. I also will have a WTO switch lug option for folks who want to swap between 17 HMR/ 22 WSM and 22/17 HM2. Same bolt head will accommodate these cartridges. This will allow quick removal of the barrel and just swap a magazine for the HMR/WSM

My preference is nitride for the surface hardening and color.

2nd choice would be DLC, 3rd would be the bead-blast stainless steel.

Any estimate on what a barreled action is going to run? I think it may finally be time to supgrade from my T1x and this looks excellent.
I havnt finalized all cost yet, including DLC coating, V22 firing pin assembly and feedback I get from our pro shooters. So this is just an estimate. Im estimating around 2,299 USD. Thats about the same price as the others in the market

This is aimed mostly for the PRS / NRL22 competitor. Barreled actions will be more readily available in a straight contour with us. Other contours will have be a custom quote and subject to a leadtime to contour a barrel. Our 17 cal offering in the WTO switch lug will be offered in a Sendero Contour Lilja barrel. The Lilja 17 cal barrels seem to have been the most consistent in accuracy from testing.

I have two other partner shops that will be also providing sale and manufacturing of these barreled actions. This is an attempt to keep up with demand, I have already trained them and can vouch their quality and customer service is as good or better than ours. Folks will be able to purchase available barreled actions or complete rifles from their website or in person. If their seems to be more of a request for a certain contour, I'm sure we can accommodate that with our partners. Please let me know the contours your wanting

With the fixed extractor I'm assuming user replaceable barrels will be possible?

Would you consider doing barrel flats to aid in barrel changes, or are you just assuming 99% of people will just stick with a truck axle barrel?

Searched the thread but didn't find it, what will be the weight of a .22 LR barreled action with each barrel length?

TIA

Its not a fixed extractor. It uses a 40x style extractor which I wire edm from S7.

WTO switch lugs do not require torquing the barrel on. They are a tapered lug that the shooter will just need to hand tight a barrel to the shoulder and tighten a T25 torx to 30in lbs

To emphasize, primary focus of this action is competition use. Light contour 22lr barrels do not produce the same repeatable accuracy as a straight or heavy taper

Fully assembled action is just over 2lbs

Barrels can range from 6.5 to 7.5lbs in a 1.20in straight

Action #5 btw.. Bix trigger works flawless. Been gravitating towards a Bix lately

Thanks for this Kenny. Is the Bix sear low, med or high? The default shipped is usually medium. I ask since some (early) RIMX needed to have low sear for functionality.

It works with medium and high. Haven't tried a low but my Flavio 0.5oz BR trigger works which says it shouldn't have an issue.
