On that note…

There are “protests” scheduled all over the country this weekend. We even have some within 20 miles of me (I am in the damn sticks) scheduled.

Yall be careful, especially in and around bigger urban zones.

Run those idiots over if you’re really in trouble.

We put up a Ghost solar electric gate not long ago. We haven’t had much trouble but a guy was seen sort of scoping things out up here at the neighbors not too long ago. We put it where it keeps things more secure for us and our closest neighbors, we all share an easement.

Ordered this for it 😉

The gun line.

Man, can I relate. Start of the, as a new orderly on the ortho ward, after ets’ing in 1969. Walked into a 4 bed ward, and a patient id worked with before, say, “ Hey, you better check that guy.” In the far corner, an old guy who’d had a hip replacement that night before and was pretty much out of it ( nursing home patient), had filled his bed with liquid stool. The sheets were neatly pulled up to his chin. I lifted the sheet, and he was like a half submerged boat, with a line all the way from his ears to his feet. I looked over at the guy who warned me, and he said, happened about half houtafo, maybe an hour. I called for the nurse. She took one look, looked at her watch, pulled the sheets tight, and blew out of here.”
Beginning of the shift. I got the worts of it taken care of, while I had nurses and pt, come get the other 3 guys out of there. Then two nurses came and helped me get the guy onto a type of Stryker frame used to bathe paralyzed people, and wheeled him into the shower. We got him cleaned up, the maintenance guy cleaned up the rest of the bed, and we put him back in. He never knew what we were doing, far as I could tell. We opened the window, to air the place out, sprayed it heavily.
I talked to the charge nurse, wrote it all up and was taken to the director. Two people got fired. 2 hours into my shift. I was in no mood that day.

Dang. Thats a doozy of a liquid poop!!
Seen several similar. Couple still haunt me!

26 yrs and counting and still amazing/dismayed at the number of people who show up for the check, but when it comes down to it, would do just like that nurse you experienced.

Im often the old man problem solver at work. Rarely leave on time.
It is what it is.
Im blessed beyond belief to have a job I love this many years later and to get to help people.

Still trying to figure out if the APP/NP route is for me for the 2nd half or if I just keep at the bedside.
I reckon the Good Lord will let me know when Im quiet and listen

Son lives in SW Missouri and has a spray foam insulation business. Sent this picture this morning saying he was spraying for an Amish business today. They cannot hook up to the power grid so they run a solar generator with battery banks to power their tools.

This is like vegans that do all sorts of mental gymnastics to not eat meat. I’m mean, “impossible meat”?

“Has the look, feel, smell, and taste of real meat, but it’s made from PLANTS.”

Ok, first of all; no it does not. But, more to the point; if you’re so horny for the look, smell, feel, and taste of meat, eat MEAT.

That said, word on the street is that if you’re looking for a freak, find you an Amish girl…

I STILL find strings of barbed wire (bob war) here from probably 100 years ago.

It will still poke holes lemeetellya.
Growing up, building fence for my dad, I'd find old Red Cedar posts that had been in the ground that long, wire rusted away, but still tight in the ground.

I had the Amish come out to build an extension on my shop. Had a chance to learn quite a bit, to the point i said if I am a bother with all these questions tell me to go away.

They have quite a few different.....groups.....i guess I will say, and what is allowed will very from group to group. I came away thinking depending on how much contact with the English, depends on how far they go. The group that came out was not allowed to drive cars, but they owned a skid steer. It was for work, but a truck could be for work, answer was the bobcat can only be used for work.

I do a lot of business with our local Mennonite community.

They are some of the greatest Americans one could ever hope to know.

Total respect for their values, patriotism and work ethic.

Some call them insular and cultish. Bullshit. They have their values and most of those values align with mine. Especially their commitment to craft industries and to apprenticeship and training of their generations of... craftsmen.

We need a lot more Mennonites and Amish. And a shit ton fewer "Amish."

My grandfather grew up Mennonite in Virginia. His part of the family tree goes back to the late 1600's in that part of the country. I never knew he was still in with the Amish and such until his funeral. A couple dozen showed up to his wake, shook every man's hand and left. Made me wish I knew a bit more about Gramp's private dealings.

ETA: He died in Wisconsin.
