With Hornady starting to mass produce this round, I want to build one for coyote hunting. Anyone have first hand knowledge on an action to use that won’t have feeding problems with the short fat round?

The wssm holds 3.5 gr more than lapua or alpha creed brass, this will equate to maybe 75-100fps speed advantage. A 22-243 or straight 243 holds 1gr less than the wssm case. Do you want to run factory ammo only? I know guys who bought into the 223 wssm back in the day, they loved the speed, but the Winchester rifles typically fed the cases like shit. An aics wsm mag with lips tuned properly would be the only way I'd try to run one these.

I shot a lot of wssm back in the day out of a browning varmint, feeding was always a concern. If you have your heart set on the wssm I wish you luck but I would recommend 6mm PRC, not only for better feeding but the availability of great brass.

With Hornady making .243 WSSM brass, the only logical next step should be reviving the old venerable.25 WSSM, except with a modern twist, like putting a 20” 7.5 twist barrel and pushing 133-135 grain pills. That would be a nasty whitetail and antelope round.
