Official (DTA) SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Thread

I have a 1.85” sico harvester big bore that it clears, but with less than 1mm. Not sure if it would contact under recoil. My 1.65” Diligent enticer S clears with like 4mm at the closest part. I’d say 1.75” cans and smaller will be no issue. The top rail is 0moa. No way to can’t or i would run out of clearence by the end of the rifle for the pic rail
Cool! I’ve got an OCL Hydrogen, so it sounds like that setup should work just fine.

It makes sense that with the larger diameter forend, 0 MOA would be easier to manage—you’d need the buttstock end of the top rail to be sky-high to accommodate 30 MOA. I could always swap back to the regular M2 if I want to shoot longer range and take advantage of the extra inclination.

Thanks again for the info!

Or just get a one peice 30 moa scope mount.

Working on a gen 2 version of the oversized handguard. Removable one peice full length top rail to convert and A2 to an SRS-M2 with an integral suppressor.
This is a much larger handguard than my Gen 1. But it appears these are Likely going to be an aluminum handgaurd instead of carbon fiber for now. That could change.
Can you match or do better on the top rail tolerance of the DT? When I pace my starret on top of my rail the front of the rail isn’t close to the rear or the middle. This prob isn’t a big deal if but I dislike their machining.

Interesting that a desert tech from the factory would have issues like that.

Do you have to machine off the existing Pic rail to fit this?

NO. there is two versions of the SRS-A2 the early gen has a built in top rail. the later gen SRS-A2 has a removable toprail.
Basically it’s SRS-A2 Gen 1
And SRS-A2 Gen 2
Here is picture of it.

Got the lady out shooting today, did well standing at 700 and prone at 1000. Might be needing another DT soon.

Short Action Customs historically; If you're wanting a great training barrel then his 223 conversion shoots the lights out, and is just a hoot to shoot. I use it predominantly as a low cost trainer/kids rifle. My 7yo splits hairs with it; literally. We hang cat-tails up sometimes and he'll cut the stem intentionally. Or cut the lip of a soda can.

The problem with short action customs is they are too proud of their stuff and this guy is trying to save money over a factory conversion. And when I talked to someone there a year ago, he told me they were getting out of doing Desert Tech stuff altogether, but you would have to inquire for details

The easy button is go to Eric Smith @ES tactical, he has standard contours for KNP barrels in stock and often times has complete conversions in stock. The barrels I have gotten from him are all shooters.

979 for a barrel ready to go with extension. Get yourself a bolt and you are ready to go. I wouldn’t even buy a magazine to start. I would get a single shot sled from Tyler at MKM.

Oh, and come to think of it, you will want to either get a bolt from Erick or send him your bolt so he can make sure it is compatible with the extension he uses since for a long while Desert Tech had some tolerance stacking issues related to heat treatment

I just talked to Eric at estactical about a barrel, total built on the website was about $1100 so I think I’m going to go that route for a 300 prc and keep looking for a factory 308 barrel. Skimming through this thread it looks like delivery dates aren’t his strong point though. I asked him what was the closest to the factory contour and he said it’s the medium Palma. My factory 26 inch 338 lapua barrel is exactly 4lbs and I don’t want to get a barrel any heavier. Anybody on here have a medium Palmer contour barrel from Eric and know the weight?

His standard contour that he calls the Desert Tech contour is pretty much the same as there’s may be a little skinnier, but without the fluting so it comes out to about the same weight as a factory barrel

And yes, the reality is that if you are in a time crunch, you might want to try to find one that is in stock and ready to ship because Eric gets busy with his multiple jobs and sometimes does fall behind. Last I talked to him he was in the middle of moving his home and his machine shop too and I don’t know if that is completed yet or poses a future delay.
