Hello, I get regular solicitations from Snipershide to my Private Messages (conversations). I've never had this happen on any of the other forums I belong to. Does anyone/everyone else get these? How do I unsubscribe from this?

I have been getting them as well. Try to stop them, do not see a method.
Its from Mod/staff... you cant shut them off... I agree its a bit annoying.
And there's also the emails that say the exact same thing as the pm, sheesh.
Yeah, I wish I could hit an opt out button for emails and the extraneous messages.
Something about their site, their rules.

Okay, I give. I guess I just don’t see those as solicitations like the OP. I thought he meant vendor solicitations, which technically those are. It’s easy to move on though. I guess I don’t see why the angst.
I feel mild disappointment thinking someone messaged me and mildly inconvenienced when I have to click through to get rid of the notification. That said the site is free to use and I don't contribute anything so it's a worthwhile price to pay.
It is irritating. I see red icon and I think,
"Oh! This is so exciting! Finally someone wants to talk to me. I might have friend."
Then I see it is girl. I get even more excited. This is first time this has happen to me.
I open message to meet love of my life!
"Сука булат! This is only stupid capitalistic marketing message about contest I will never win! Pizdec."
I now go back to my autistic lurking on the Hide again.

If you believe this, you really are clueless.
I think what the OP is saying is he wants more people to PM him.
I've seen 5 different forum owners claim they'd never sell out.
They are all owned by vertical scope and virtually abandoned now.
I don't blame them. They get a nice little payday along with dropping all costs associated with hosting and maintaining the site.
I know Frank will retire someday, but I have a strong inkling if he was looking to sell out it would have happened back in the Scout days. I know that predates most around here, but if you were around then you’d likely agree.
