Army M24 Build Thread

I just found this post on a German language website, but the main poster uses english. Interesting info. He (screen name Wabbits), and a SFC Dave Zavits eventually tried using Bisonite to replace the aluminum bed blocks in a couple HS Precision stocks. He also mentions working with Mr Fred Martin at Remington who developed the M24 SWS. If anyone knows this soldiers actual name, tell us so we can add another person to the history of Army sniping & weapons development

M24 Sniper Accessory Kit - 7.62 Improved Sniper Cleaning System. This was a later issue item that replaced the original sectional cleaning rod kit. OTIS Technology made it, and production had slight variations. This one has the lens cleaning items not often found in later issue. OTIS P/N: #308-6, NSN # 1005-01-451-5119. This kit was also included with DMR-M14, M240, M40. All the parts were finished in black with a polycoating. Standard Otis finishes are in bright brass.

(OTIS made another kit called SNIPER 7.62/5.56 with a different NSN# 1005-01-453-3783 that I believe was issued with the M110 SASS for the sniper/spotter team with M4 backups, not sure)

A few select M24 systems to be auctioned off tomorrow 8/17/2025 by Rock Island Auctioneers at their Bedford, TX location. One is the incredible M24 Lease Contract rifle (1-of-16) with Remington archive documentation, originally purchased by an Illion, NY employee after being returned from the U.S. Army Fort Riley, Kansas. The other one is an early Remington Collectors Edition 25th Anniversary (1987-2012) version (1-of-less than 2000), with the scarce "G" prefix ser.# that pre-dates the later "RR" prefix recievers. Cant wait to see where the hammer drops

Yes, the buyer's premium is 17.5% if you buy in person or with an early bid. 18.5% if you use their on-line platform. Plus, tax and credit card fees if applicable.

It was interesting to see one guy buy all three of those items!
