I've been finding Carbon 6 quality to be going down hill a bit. Chambered up a 6 Creedmoor with a shorty carbon wrapped carbon 6 and it shot all over the place. Went to a Proof Research and re-barreled the set up and shot great, figured it was a crappy barrel. Now I have 2 well know shops that will not even chamber a set up using Carbon 6. What are you guys finding at this point? My preferences normally run Bartlein or Benchmark for carbon barrels, Proofs and Carbon 6 were 2nd choices.

If memory serves, Carbon 6 uses McGowan blanks, which used to be pretty good, but there have been rumblings over the interwebs that their quality has slipped considerably, which would explain the same slip in quality at carbon 6. They would likely be better off going with Shaw barrels, if their goal was good accuracy at an entry level price.

I've got 3 Carbon 6 barrels - all from a few years ago ( nothing recent ). They all shoot to various degrees below MOA. And since I'm one of those people that's "I got's to know" - I ran my borescope down them when they were new. All looked smooth with no obvious ugly imperfections.
Of course, this does not really help you now, but I've been pleased with mine. Ordering was easy, communications were quickly responded to, and delivery was on time. YMMV, but I hope this little bit of information was of some help.
