I’ve heard that Leupold will be releasing some interesting stuff at Shot Show but I got zero details. Anybody have any info or care to take a guess?

My guess - The toolless zero turrets they introduced on the VX line will make their way to the Mark 4 & 5 lines.

My hope- They introduce a more premium Mark series above the Mk 5 to bridge the gap a bit to the alpha-tier brands.

I just bought a VX6 Gen 2 because it has the 34mm tube and locking windage turret.
The specs are impressive, but It's to be used for hunting so I'm not worried about dialing the turrets like a madman, I just need them to lock and it to have good low light visibility.
I heard they addressed a lot of the issues that plagued previous models with the Gen 2, so they are listening, but I guess they're not working fast enough for some people.

That would be awesome. Especially if they take the community’s feedback about feature set while maintaining the Mark 5’s value proposition. Not saying they can’t bump prices, but if they do, it needs to be demonstrably worth it. I’m rooting for them.

You think $2500-$2700 is a value proposition for what you get with the Mk5HDs?

With a PRS membership, you can pick up a 5-25 PR2 Mil for $1,870.
Compare that with the other top scopes in the PRS:
ZCO 5-27 $4,370
TT 5-25 with PRS discount $5,621

It also won the AG cup last year. As a new shooter with an endless list of stuff to buy, yeah, i absolutely think it’s a value. It’s sure not going to be holding me back. Plus I get to support an American made product. The last 2 matches I shot were were sponsored by Leupold, so they obviously support the community. I’ve been using their hunting scopes for 25 years with no issues. Just picked up a Mark 5 5-25 new in the wrapper from the PX for a good deal.

I’m as intrigued as anybody by the best of the best, but that’s not realistic for me at the moment.

I look forward to see what they come out with.

There are a tonne of options that already bridge the gap between the Mark 5hd and a TT/ZCO.
Burris XTR Pro, Razor G3, Zeiss S3, and Element Theos, are the obvious choice but there are plenty more options.

My speculation... whatever it is, I'm pretty sure it's not going to be what I want.

Edit: Sorry I forgot I was supposed to guess what it will be; Scopes with a cheap tinny feel, a rough brushed matte finishes, a squared off harsh edge to everything and adjustments that feel like there's sand in the mechanism?

Oh wait, you meant new stuff?

I’m still holding back after past experiences with Leupold, but I’ve been using their MK5 on one of my work guns and has been really good.

As long as they don’t break my heart again in the next few years, I would entertain buying one again.
